For the 2012 season, the FIM Marketing service headed by Olivier GODALLIER has decided to offer a new "wardrobe" to the Enduro Women class. The Logo EW, which cannot be differentiated with the others, is over. The women class, important to the Federation International de Motocyclisme, will dispose now of its own logo and colors.

New colors and more Grand Prix…

More than this color changing; the Women class will pass from 3 Grand Prix to 4 in 2012. 8 Days will decide the best Women riders of the World and it should give more attractiveness and suspense to this class in which Ludivine PUY (F – Gas Gas) – Laïa SANZ (E – Gas Gas) rivalry is already announced like a highlight. The Enduro Women will be present in Munitibar (Spain), Portugal (Torres Vedras), Italy (Castiglion Fiorentino) and in Brignoles (France) for the Final the 20th and 21st of October.

The Women class is growing more and more in the MAXXIS FIM Enduro World Championship paddocks.

2011 MAXXIS FIM E3 Enduro World Champion Mika Ahola passed away on 16 January in a Barcelona hospital (Spain), a few days after crashing while training. Mika Ahola won the FIM Enduro World Championship five times and the FIM ISDE Trophy ten times with Team Finland between 1994 and 2009.

Ahola made his debut in the FIM World Enduro Championship on a Husqvarna in 1993, and became a regular title contender after joining the TM factory team in 1997. In 2001, he finished runner-up for the third time, after losing the 500 cc World title to Anders Eriksson by a single point. Ahola took three more wins than Eriksson, but a retirement in the second round in Slovakia cost him the title. After another second place in 2002 and a third in 2003, he briefly moved to Husqvarna before signing for Honda for the 2006 season, finishing second to KTM's Samuli Aro in the E2 class.

In 2007, Ahola took seven wins and finished on the podium in all but one event, beating fellow Finn Aro and Yamaha's Johnny Aubert to finally win the world championship. For the 2008 season, he moved to the E1 class and clinched his second world title ahead of KTM's Iván Cervantes; Ahola went on to win a fourth consecutive title in 2010. In 2011, he moved to the E3 class and became the first rider to win the world title in the three categories.

"Mika was a very talented and charismatic rider.

Continuing their commitment to youth rider development Husaberg welcomes two new riders into their Enduro World Championship team.

Manx riders Alex Rockwell and Jamie McCanney will compete alongside existing Husaberg Factory team riders Pela Renet, Joakim Ljunggren, Oriol Mena and Mathias Bellino in the 2012 Enduro World Championship, just like Dutch E2 rider Hans Vogels, as Factory supported riders.

As a manufacturer that prides itself on supporting the development of talented up-and-coming young riders, Husaberg will bolster its official presence in the Enduro Junior class in 2012 where Mathias Bellino will be joined by Alex Rockwell. Forming what will be an extremely strong two-rider line up, Rockwell joins the team having previously competed in Enduro World Championship competition in 2010.

Joining the Midwest Husaberg team for 2011 while focusing on the British enduro scene, 'Rocky' made two international outings last year – at the International Six Days Enduro in Finland and at the final round of the EWC series in France. Helping the British Junior Trophy Team claim a solid third place result in what was his first ever ISDE, Rocky spent much of the event knocking on the door of a top 10 Enduro 2 class result. Fracturing a knuckle in a first turn pile-up during his final motocross race Alex was forced to spend time away from racing after the event before competing in the final round of the EWC series where he again showed impressive speed.

"Returning to the Enduro World Championship in 2012 is something I'm really looking forward to," explains Alex. "I know exactly what to expect and can't wait to get going. Being supported by Husaberg is great, and being a team-mate to Mathias Bellino will be both enjoyable and challenging – I know he's going to be extremely fast. I've been with Husaberg in the UK for one year now and have a great bike set-up. I'm just looking forward to getting my season started now."

Jamie McCanney will compete in the 125cc Youth Cup for Husaberg, stepping into the international enduro scene for the first time in 2012. At just 17 years of age Jamie's first full-season of enduro competition follows many years of motocross. As one of the UK's most promising youngsters, Jamie mixed participation in the British Sprint Enduro Championship with his existing motocross commitments during 2011 impressing many with his speed and obvious talents and winning the Under 19 category of the BSEC. In 2012 Jamie will turn his attentions to enduro full-time.

"I'm really looking forward to this year," comments Jamie. "I know that I have a lot to learn as I've not done too many enduros, but being at the EWC events will be great. I'm loving riding my 125 and can't wait to find out what the world
championship events are like." As well as competing in the Enduro World Championship both Alex and Jamie will compete in the British Sprint Enduro Championship and British Enduro Championship for the Midwest Husaberg UK Team in 2012. With an increasingly strong presence within the UK enduro scene Midwest Racing will field a threerider squad with Si Wakely competing alongside Alex and Jamie.

Pictures:
Jamie McCanney and Alex Rockwell from the Isle of Man will dramatically expand the British presence at the EWC in 2012.

'Rocky' will stay aboard a FE 390 in 2012.

Jamie will be racing the new TE 125.

Team Midwest Husaberg UK (left to right): Graham Ward (Technician), Jamie McCanney, Alex Rockwell, Oliver Goehring (Husaberg General Manager), Simon Molter (Team Manager).

This 2012 offseason is really exciting. With the arrivals of Ricky DIETRICH (USA – Husqvarna), Luis CORREIA (P – Yamaha) or Manuel MONNI (I – KTM), the transfers like Antoine MEO (F) and Christophe NAMBOTIN (F) to KTM or Simone ALBERGONI with HM Honda, the new teams (Bordone/Ferrari, JotaGas, Iron Team, Johansson Mpe…) and the surprising retirement of Mika AHOLA (SF), the Enduro fans have everything to stay interested and they can't wait to the next season. In this "arms" race to bring back the top riders still in the free agency, the TM Racing team was really present, looking for a rider in Enduro 1 to face Antoine MEO (F), Eero REMES (SF), Matti SEISTOLA (SF) or Rodrig THAIN (F). After having failed to enlist Thomas OLDRATI (I) and Jeremy JOLY (F), the Italian firm from Pesaro has finally recruited the big Finn prospect Antti HELLSTEN (22 years old) to ride on the new 250cc 4T. The prodigy, who was still expecting to continue with the KTM team support, has finally decided to represent the firm of the Serafini's brothers. It's a big challenge for him, while he could ride on the Junior class, to get on Enduro 1 class. He will want to prove that his bad end of season was just a rough patch after his serious shoulder injury. The Estonian rider Aigar LEOK continues the EWC adventure on TM, but he is changing of class. By finishing 10th in Enduro 2 class last season, the fast Eastern European rider has proved that he didn't come on the MAXXIS FIM Enduro World Championship to be in representation, even going so far by winning a special test during the Grand Prix MAXXIS of Romania. For the 2012 season, Luca CHERUBINI (I), the TM racing team manager, and Aigar LEOK have decided to change of class, passing in Enduro 3 where he will fight with the best of the class (David KNIGHT, Christophe NAMBOTIN, Joakim LJUNGGREN…). Finally in Junior, TM will present the Italian Nicolo MORI. Aged of 20 years old, this rider has already proved a lot in this national championship by winning the 125cc Junior title in 2009. Last year, he finished 5th in 450 4T class. The Italian firm has engaged the services of its compatriot to represent them in the EWC Junior class. The TM Racing team managed by Luca CHERUBINI has made a big "stunt" by signing Antti HELLSTEN which is designated as a worthy successor of Mika AHOLA and Juha SALMINEN (SF).

And here we are, the exciting Enduro FIM MAXXIS World Championship 2011 season has just drawn to a c..

And here we are, the exciting Enduro FIM MAXXIS World Championship 2011 season has just drawn to a close. This final held at Mende was a real high point ending a rollercoaster of a season that along the way attracted many crowds. The AMV Grand Prix of France was masterfully organised by the " Moto Club Lozérien " who provided a fantastic course to the stars of World Enduro. The spectators in their tens of thousands, from the very first KTM Super Test of the Friday, have added another dimension to this last stage of the EWC 2011. They were spread out throughout the course, encouraging every rider to give of his best. They turned the final into a something of a party where all the nations gathered together to celebrate the end of the season of World Enduro. The clement weather of the beginning of October also gave this final a boost of energy. All looked promising to make the 2011 season of The Enduro FIM MAXXIS World Championship end on a high, to the great pleasure of the riders, the crowds and the organisers. After the Enduro 1 title had been won by Juha SALMINEN (FIN - HVA) and the Enduro 3 title by Mika AHOLA (FIN – HM Honda), there were still two titles to play for today. In Enduro Junior, Jérémy JOLY (FIN – HM Honda) had regained 4 precious points yesterday away from his rival Mario ROMAN (ESP - KTM) and therefore was in the lead with 8 points. In the end, it is the Frenchman who becomes Enduro Junior World Champion. Having missed out on the title last year by only a few points, he manages this time to grab the Holy Grail. " It feels fantastic to win this title, I've been waiting for this and there we go, I've managed to become the World Champion! " Mario ROMAN started the day with intense pains in his knee, knocked yesterday, and despite his courage, he was unable to resist the HM Honda rider. Jérémy JOLY for his part, certainly did not rest on his laurels and fought tooth and nail with Jonathan MANZI (ITA - KTM) and Mathias BELLINO (FRA - Husaberg) for third place. But the newly awarded World Champion preferred to play safe in order to ensure he won the title and ended up in 6th place. Romain DUMONTIER (FRA – Yam) and Benoit FORTUNATO (FRA - Yam) fought to attain first place on the podium. In the end, it was the EEAT rider who took the title to complete his double of the weekend. In the Enduro Women category, Laïa SANZ (ESP - HM Honda), having put Ludivine PUY (FRA - Gas Gas) under a lot of pressure for a large part of the day on Saturday, seemed resolved to win her first victory in the World Championship. But the Gas Gas rider, from the very first wheel spins, took control of the race and gave the Spaniard no opportunities to challenge her plans of victory and winning the world title. It is therefore a second world title in a row for the French woman, who finishes a perfect season with 6 possible victories out of six. Impressive handling, " Lulu " showed the HM Honda rider the path that she still has to follow. On the other hand, there was no fight for third place between Heike PETRICKN (GER - KTM) who was ahead by one minute of Blandine DUFRENE (FRA - Gas Gas). Rodrig THAIN (FRA - HM Honda) finally holds his first victory of the season in Enduro 1. Ahead from the very first specials, a great comeback from yesterday's results, he left the " machine ", Juha SALMINEN (2nd) no hope whatsoever. A good duel between Lorenzo SANTOLINO (ESP - KTM) and Eero REMES (FIN - KTM) with advantage going to the Finn. In Enduro 2, Antoine MEO (FRA - HVA) took advantage of Pierre-Alexandre RENET's (F-Husaberg) withdrawal due to an unfortunate fall in the third lap, to climb once again to the highest step on the Podium. Cristobal GUERRERO (ESP - KTM) and Ivan CERVANTES (ESP - Gas Gas) respectively shared the 2nd and 3rd steps of the podium. It is to be noted the 4th place of the Dutchman, Hans VOGELS (Husaberg) who achieves his best result of this season. In Enduro 3, the days seem to follow and imitate each other in this AMV Grand Prix of France for Mika AHOLA, (FIN - HM Honda), Alex SALVINI (ITA - HVA) and Marko TARKKALA (FIN - Husaberg) who finish in this same order, like the day before. Christophe NAMBOTIN (FRA - Gas Gas) and the Isle of Man giant, David KNIGHT (GB – KTM) were unable to start today, due to physical problems. This 2011 edition of the FIM MAXXIS Enduro World Championship finishes therefore with two more French title holders. After Antoine MEO in Enduro 2, it is Jérémy JOLY and Ludivine PUY who find themselves in that position in their respective categories. And for this final day of races, 4 out of 5 categories were won by French riders, motivated by the fact that they were riding in their home land. After the victories of Mika AHOLA and Juha SALMINEN yesterday, the Finns and the French are the great winners of this 2011 season. Perfect organisation and a wonderful audience, gave this AMV GP of France a enchanting party atmosphere. Rendez-vous therefore in 2012 for a new EWC season, which promises to be even more exciting than this one.

The large crowd who attended this first day of races, were able to witness the crowning of Juha SALMINEN (FIN - HVA) in the Enduro 1 category. The HVA representative has marked his place in the history of Enduro by adding an eigth title to his personal record. To achieve this, he needed to finish ahead of his rival Eero REMES (FIN - KTM) which he did and ended the day brilliantly. The thousands of spectators also celebrated the 5th consecutive title for Mika AHOLA (FIN - HM HONDA) in Enduro 3. It was a similar situation for him in that he also had to finish ahead of Christophe NAMBOTIN (FRA - Gas Gas) in order to clinch the title and left the Frenchman no hope since he breezed into first place from the beginning. " These five titles mean a lot to me… " said Mika AHOLA " Firstly because I am the first to have won in all 3 categories, secondly because it is the 5th in a row and lastly because I am the oldest champion in the world ! " On top of these two major titles, the 108 riders displayed an exceptional first part of the final weekend. The heat of this first weekend of the month of October alongside the battles for the various titles, raised the level of the first day of races. However, in Enduro 1, the day started off badly for Juha SALMINEN who was losing several seconds as of the very first special, due to a surprising Rodrig THAIN (FRA - HM Honda) and his compatriot Eero REMES. But the Finn began to catch up from the 2nd lap and then took control of the category and didn't let go after that through to the end of the race. The KTM representative tried his best to keep up with his elder, but the Flying Finn was quite simply untouchable today. Fabien PLANET (FRA - Sherco) finished in 3rd place. A good battle as well for the subsequent places between Nicolas DEPARROIS (FRA - Kawa), Matti SEISTOLA (FIN - HVA) and Rodrig THAIN. And it is eventually the HVA representative who had the last word. In the Enduro 3 category, Mika AHOLA (FIN – HM Honda) dominated the day without doubt. Taking advantage of a wrist injury sustained by his direct opponent, Christophe NAMBOTIN (FRA - Gas Gas), the Finn achieved a fantastic win and the 5th World title in a row. He once again showed the calm and serenity of a great champion. The Frenchman was unable to compete well with his painful wrist and finished in 5th place. The rookie, Alex SALVINI (ITA - HVA), in great form from the very first specials, achieved the best race of his season and finished on the second step of the podium with only fifteen seconds between him and the newly crowned 5 times World Champion. The Husaberg Joakim LJUNGGREN (SWE) – Marko TARKKALA (FIN) duo offered the crowd some great overtaking. It is eventuall y the Finn who, from the 3rd lap onwards, went ahead of the great Swede, achieving his third podium finish of the year. For his big comeback, David KNIGHT (GB - KTM) was forced to withdraw in the second lap due to his physical fitness not being quite there yet. In Enduro 2, Pierre-Alexandres RENET (FRA - Husaberg) offers a prestigious victory. The newly-crowned World Champion, Antoine MEO (FRA - HVA), unrecognisable at the beginning of the day, carried out a fantastic comeback and grabbed the second place off Cristobal GUERRERO (ESP - KTM). Ivan CERVANTES (ESP - Gas Gas) had to be content with his fourth place. A great battle was expected between Jérémy JOLY (FRA - HM Honda) and Mario ROMAN (ESP - KTM), which indeed took place. Unable to fight for first place, due to a very fast Romain DUMONTIER (FRA - Yam), the two rivals fought nail to nail. Eventually, it was the HM Honda representative, encouraged by the public, who showed himself to be the best and also managed to grab the second place up to that point held by the surprising Mathias Bellino (FRA - Husaberg). He regains, therefore, some precious points from the KTM Espana rider in the race for the title. Jonathan MANZI (ITA - KTM) finishing ahead of the talented Portuguese, Luis OLIVEIRA (Yam) and the British Jordan SCOTT (TM), wins the FIM Youth Cup 125 cc title. First title for the young I talian from Bergamo, who seems to hold a radiant future in this discipline and who already as of next season, could be trying for the Junior title. 5th consecutive victory for the quite amazing Ludivine PUY (FRA – Gas Gas) to whom it would seem that a second world title is imminent, other than if there are mechanical problems tomorrow. But Laïa SANZ (ESP - HM Honda) is edging ever closer to the French woman, being ahead of her for part of the day. A good third place awarded to the Swedish Jessica JONSSON (Gas Gas). After the two magnificent titles awarded to Juha SALMINEN (FIN – HVA) and Mika AHOLA (FIN – HM Honda) today, the World Enduro has already offered the crowds an amazing final. As of tomorrow, 9 am, the 2011 EWC will live its final hours with still two titles to be awarded in Enduro Junior and Women. The suspense is still strong, therefore, and there is no doubt that the public, that will be even more numerous tomorrow, will be cheering to encourage Jérémy JOLY and Ludivine PUY towards the world title.

The MAXXIS FIM Enduro World Championship final is fast approaching, and this week, we will propose you each day a preview of each class. Today, let us present you the Enduro 2 class. The Enduro 2 class already knows its champion with the crowning of Antoine MEO (F – HVA) during the penultimate stage of the MAXXIS FIM Enduro World Championship in Sant Julià in Andorra. But this category is still interesting. Indeed, they are 3 riders for the 2 last places in the podium. The Spanish Cristobal GUERRERO (KTM) and Ivan CERVANTES (Gas Gas) and the Frenchie Pierre-Alexandre RENET (Husaberg) will have to do their best to become the runner of the official HVA. Advantage to the official KTM for instance who has known an impressive improvement this season and who seemed to be the only one to stop Antoine MEO. Cristobal GUERRERO has ripened and will be a serious candidate to the World title in the future. The Catalan Ivan CERVANTES (3rd) has proved in Andorra that he can reach the first step of the podium. So it will be his challenge in France. The French Pierre-Alexandre RENET (4th), not in good fit in Andorra, will want to finish this season "at home" well and to reach the podium just in front of the two Spanish riders. In constant improvement, he showed during this year 2011 that he can ride regularly with the best on the race for the first place. The amazing Antoine BASSET (F – Yam) will be, with no doubt, 5th in front of a Simone ALBERGONI (I – HVA) in a total "lose of speed" and who can see his 6th place stolen by Jean-François GOBLET (B – Yam), best private rider of this 2011 season. Gonçalo REIS (P – HM Honda) and Hans VOGELS (NL – Husaberg) will fight the 8th place of the final standing. Those two valorous riders, whose finish in the Top 10 of the season, will benefit of the Grand Prix AMV of France to show their talents and to seduce the teams to prepare the next season. The Latvian Aigar LEOK (TM) is still in the race for the honorific title of "Rookie of the Year", he will do his best to forestall Alex SALVINI (I – HVA), former Enduro 3 class, in this race of best novice. Jordan CURVALLE (F – Sherco) at home will want to make the Sherco and Moto Club Lozérien; in which he is an associate; shining. We have to signal the comeback after 4 months of absence of Johnny AUBERT (F – KTM) for this Grand Prix AMV of France. It will add a bit more of spicy to this class. Antoine MEO (F – HVA), "title in the pocket", will have to ride as fast as he can during this final. Reached this morning, the Provencal told us "I will have two objectives in Mende. First, to win the Husqvarna Xtreme Test Award, it will not be so easy. Then, I wanted to race in Enduro 1 with a 125cc but Husqvarna wants also the manufacturer title in Enduro 2 where they are in concurrence with KTM. This final will not be so easy for me." Even if this Enduro 2 class already knows its champion, it is still interesting with an undecided final for the honors places on the podium, the comeback of Johnny AUBERT and the challenges of Antoine MEO. See you in Mende in France the 1st and 2nd of October to know the final denouement of this category.

We left Johnny AUBERT (F – KTM) during the Grand Prix of Greece with a fracture of the collar bone and with numerous bruise and a serious burn on his right thigh. From this time, we had no news of the double World Champion.

So, yesterday, we contacted by phone the official KTM who was reassuring on his health status…
"It is really better, I have no problem with collar bone and the burn is finally beginning to reduce."

What's about your return to the competition?
"There are 95% of chances for me to ride during the Final. I have already restarted my physical preparation with bike; no I have to recover my sensation with the motorbike to be 100% sure to be present the 1st and 2nd of October."

The news given by Johnny AUBERT was reassuring and will permit to give again some spicy taste to the Enduro 2 class. No doubt that the talented AUBERT will want to prove that the bad injuries are now finished and on his back and that he is ready to ride with the next season as an objective where he confirmed us that he will probably stay with KTM.

The Xtreme Test of the Grand Prix of Andorra which takes place next to Sant Julià wasn't timed on Saturday because of rain during the night and of a rocky field and a precarious grip. But, timed on Sunday, this special test which was on the side of the mountain has completely revived the HUSQVARNA Xtreme Test Award!! In fact, Antoine MEO (F – HVA), the leader of the Award standing, lost precious points as he scored only one point on Sunday. Ivan CERVANTES (E), like the Frenchie had some troubles in the Xtreme Test and finished only 10th. And finally it is Cristobal GUERRERO (E - 5) and Mika AHOLA (SF - 4) who made the good operation of the weekend by coming back on Antoine MEO just before the final in France. With respectively 12 points and 15 points of gap, GUERRERO and AHOLA still can pretend to win the Award. The official HVA, early crowned in E2 will have a new motivation for the final (GP AMV of France October 1st/2nd in Mende), win the HUSQVARNA Xtreme Test Award! But the surprise of this weekend came from the victory of the junior Mario ROMAN (E). The Catalan was in a good shape in this special test, he was also faster than Juha SALMINEN (SF – HVA) 2nd and Taddy BLAZUSIAK (PL) 3rd. With a 9th winner in 13 race days, the HUSQVARNA Xtreme Test Award wants highly competitive this season… and we can be the spectators of new change during the final in France. But now, let's have a break of 3 weeks dedicated to national's championships waiting for the "big event" on October 1st/2nd during the Grand Prix AMV of France in Mende where the colors of Husqvarna will again shine on the world scene. Standing after 7 Grand Prix: 1. Antoine MEO (F – HVA) 226pts; 2. Cristobal GUERRERO (E – KTM) 214pts; 3. Mika AHOLA (SF – HM Honda) 211pts; 4. Juha SALMINEN (SF – HVA) 204pts; 5. Ivan CERVANTES (E – Gas Gas) 184 pts.

The very first Andorran Grand Prix has just come to a close and the principality has witnessed the crowning of Antoine MEO (FRA - HVA) in Enduro 2. In fact, the Frenchman, having won yesterday, only had to maintain the pace today. This is exactly what he achieved on his 310 HVA. Only one year after having become world champion in E1 he is now World champion in E2. " I am really very satisfied, I was very keen to win this title. I think that the difference was made in Italy, I managed to make good progress there and maintained it throughout. " This time, the altered Xtreme Test was timed as of the 2nd lap, which added an element of spice to this Pyrenean stage. The show that the stars of the EWC offered in the 3 specials, charmed the Andorran spectators, but also the aficionados that came from Spain and France. The organisation was delighted and admitted "having twice as many spectators as for a Trial Grand Prix". It is therefore without doubt that this first Enduro Grand Prix was extremely popular in Andorra. However, in Enduro 2, the whole day revolved around the duel between Cristobal GUERRERO (ESP - KTM) and Ivan CERVANTES (ESP – Gas Gas). The " Torito Rosso ", full of confidence thanks to his results the day before, was determined to offer, being located just a few kilometres from his home, this first victory that this Girona firm was waiting for. However, it is GUERRERO who pushes forward and finishes ahead of the Gas Gas rider with only 3 seconds to spare. Antoine MEO (FRA - HVA) finishes in 3rd place, a good enough position to ensure he takes the title of World Champion in E2. Pierre-Alexandre RENET (FRA - Husaberg), a little duller than yesterday, finds himself distanced from the very first lap and finishes at the foot of the podium. The Pole, Taddy BLAZUSIAK (KTM) offered the huge audience a great show in the Xtreme Test. His excellent times in this special ensure that he was able to place himself in the Top 5 of the category. A big skirmish between Mika AHOLA (FIN - HM Honda), Christophe NAMBOTIN (FRA - Gas Gas) and Joakim LJUNGGREN (SWE – Husaberg) in Enduro 3 kept the public with baited breath throughout the day. The Frenchman was irritated by his 3rd place of the previous day and showed himself to be full of revenge. The moment that they started the last lap, the 3 tenors were separated by a mere second and Joakim LJUNGGREN (SWE - Husaberg) told us that " It's a difficult one, if all goes well for me in the Xtreme and then the Enduro Test – either I win or I die! " In fact, the Swede kept his promises with a supersonic time which was unfortunately not quite good enough to beat NAMBOTIN. He was ahead by just over a second, after 7 and ½ hours of race. For his part, Mika AHOL A (FIN - HM Honda) settles for 20 points with his third place which will enable him to envisage a fifth World Champion title during the next final in France. A great battle between Kurt CASELLI (USA - KTM) and Marko TARKKALA (FIN – Husaberg) for the subsequent positions, with success eventually for the Husaberg rider. In the Enduro 1 category, Eero REMES (FIN - KTM), revitalised after his victory of the previous day and his return into the race for the title, started the day by putting up a strong resistance to Juha SALMINEN (FIN - HVA) who was himself determined to pick up some lead. But as the day progressed, the Finn lost time and saw his compatriot fly towards an unquestionable victory. Matti SEISTOLA (FIN – HVA) and Rodrig THAIN (FRA - HM Honda) let go of nothing to try to get onto the last step of the podium, which eventually went to the Husqvarna rider. A fierce fight for 5th place between Nicolas DEPARROIS (FRA - Kawa), Lorenzo SANTOLINO (ESP - KTM) and Fabien PLANET (FRA - Sherco), separated by only 2 seconds for the whole race, with the 5th place going to the Spaniard who pips the She rco rider to the post. In Enduro Junior, Mario ROMAN (ESP - KTM)'s domination was once again obvious. From the very first spins, the young Spaniard took the lead, never once letting it go. Mathias BELLINO (FRA - Husaberg) for his part, confirms his progress with another 2nd place. Benoit FORTUNATO (FRA - Yam) started well but Jérémy JOLY (FRA - HM Honda) took his 3rd place from the end of the 3rd lap. Fred WEILL's protégé in the EEAT team, Romain DUMONTIER (FRA -Yam) reaches the Top 5 in the category. With this new victory, Mario ROMAN is now only 4 points away from Jérémy JOLY with a final in France which promises to be a good one. In the FIM Youth Cup 125cc, Jonathan MANZI (ITA - KTM) finis hes once again on the highest step of the podium in front of the young Luis OLIVEIRA (POR - Yam) and Jordan SCOTT (GB - TM). This Andorran Grand Prix finishes well for Antoine MEO (FRA - HVA) who is now bestowed with 5 world titles. There is no doubt that World Final which will take place in Mende in France on the 1st and 2nd of October should offer the fans an amazing show and much excitement. The French spectators will witness an epic final where all is possible.

Juha Salminen (FIN - HVA) has unwittingly thrown open the Enduro 1 category. In fact, the HVA rider was unfortunate in being victim of a mechanical failure from the second lap with the breakdown of his 250 HVA's gearbox. He will therefore not have a podium finish in this Grand Prix and on top of that, he sees his major opponent of the Championship, Eero REMES (FIN - KTM) catch up with him. Despite all this, the seven times world champion keeps smiling and assures us that " if it is not this weekend, it will be for the final in France.

With a non-timed Xtreme Test during the day, due to heavy rain in the night, the EWC riders gave their all in the Enduro Test and the Cross Test, to decide between them and some were unlucky. The show was nonetheless a good one throughout the day and charmed not only the Andorran fans of Trial, but also a great number of spectators from France and Spain.

With the withdrawal of the provisional Enduro 1 leader, Juha SALMINEN (FIN - HVA), we witnessed some great duels for first place between Eero REMES (FIN - KTM) and Rodrig THAIN (FRA - HM Honda) as well as a final sprint from Matti SEISTOLA (FRA - HVA). The Frenchman took advantage of SALMINEN's absence to pick up his first victory of the season and gave his all to resist the two Finns. But in the end, it was the KTM rider who ended up on the highest step of the podium. The battle for the subsequent places was a tough one between Fabien PLANET (FRA - Sherco) and Lorenzo SANTOLINO (ESP - KTM) separated by only a few seconds throughout the day. Eventually, the SHERCO rider manages to pick up the 17 points for the 4th place finishing only a few seconds behind S EISTOLA. Although Julien GAUTHIER (FRA - TM) made a good start, he lost ground throughout the day eventually finishing in sixth place.

In Enduro 2, three riders dominated all day. Ivan CERVANTES (ESP – Gas Gas), Antoine MEO (FRA - HVA) and Pierre-Alexandre RENET (FRA – Husaberg) fought hard in each special. In the lead from the first timed sessions, Ivan CERVANTES had never been so close to offering a first victory to Gas Gas, however unfortunately saw his hopes were dashed in the last special where Antoine MEO slipped ahead. " I was in front all day, confided the GAS GAS rider, but MEO was faster than me in the last special. I am happy for my team, however, we have a new engine and I'm very satisfied with it. " Behind this trio, who offered the Andorran public a fantastic display, Cristobal GUERRERO (ESP - KTM), behind compared with his earlier good results, finishes in 4th place.

A special mention for Sébastien BOZZO (FRA - Kawa), back after his injury and who finishes in the Top 5 of the category, admitting that he " never loods at the times at the end of each special ". Taddy BLAZUSIAK (PL - KTM), accompanied by Cyril DESPRES, who today rode for the first time of the season in E2 didn't take advantage of the Xtreme Test, but finishes nonetheless with a good 6th place.

Mika AHOLA (FIN - HM Honda) and Christophe NAMBOTIN (FRA - Gas Gas) did not leave each others' sides in Enduro 3. Separated by a mere second at the end of the 3rd lap, they offered us a last epic tour. The Frenchman, full of confidence after 4 consecutive successes, is clearly out to take the first place away from the quadruple world champion. But in the last two specials, the Gas Gas rider made too many mistakes and let the 1st place slip away and it is awarded therefore to his great rival, AHOLA and sees at the same time, Joakim LJUNGGREN, who gives another speedy last lap, take the second place from him. The 4th place was uncertain right up to the last special. Sébastien GUILLAUME (FRA - HVA) in good form in Romania, began to lo se ground from the 2nd lap and struggled with Marko TARKKALA (FIN - Husaberg). It is, in the end, the Finn who performed better in the last Enduro Test. It should be noted also that Alex SALVINI (ITA - HVA) with his sixth place, is getting closer and closer to winning the " Rookie of the Year " title.

In the Enduro Junior category, Jérémy JOLY (FRA - HM Honda) struggles to get ahead. His direct opponent, the catalan Mario ROMAN (ESP - KTM) is the one with the upper hand today, leaving his followers 24 seconds behind. Furthermore, the Frenchman only comes 4th place. For the 2nd place, Jonathan MANZI (ITA - KTM) and Mathias BELLINO (FRA - Husaberg) offered us a great battle throughout the day. And eventually, it is the Frenchman who took the lead on the KTM rider. Antti HELLSTEN (FIN - KTM) finishes in the Top 5 and shows that he has fully recovered from the injury to his shoulder. It is to be noted also that Benoit FORTUNATO (FRA - Yam) was unlucky that one of his pistons broke. In the FIM YOuth Cup 125cc, Jonathan MANZI ( ITA - KTM) finishes in first place on the podium, ahead of the splendid Chilian Benjamin HERRERA (CL - KTM) and Luis OLIVEIRA (POR - Yam).

Tomorrow morning from 9 am , Sant Julià and the whole principality of Andorra will assist a great final and may also be witness to the crowning of Antione MEO (FRA - HVA) in Enduro 2. The Andorran and also the Spanish and French public should be even bigger and will not hesitate in encouraging the riders who will put in the most effort possible in order to achieve a favourable position in the final.

The curtain has finally fallen on this first ever MAXXIS Grand Prix of Romania, to the relief of the 68 participants who suffered the heat greatly in this 6th stage of the MAXXIS FIM Enduro World Championship. The Moto Club Sportiv Extreme Adventure and its president, Florin RADU have won their bet that this first Romanian Gran Prix would be one of the best of the season. According to all, the specials weren't particularly hard, but the technical aspect added to the crushing heat, again over 40 degrees today, put the riders' endurance to the test. Thanks to the weather, the spectators were able to enjoy the specials, a great show put on by the riders, but also the numerous falls that were not only spectacular, but also prophetic for the riders. The most debilitating falls were surely in Enduro 1 and Matti SEISTOLA (FIN - HVA), with his two falls in the Cross Test, lost all hope of winning again and found himself in 9th place. A sad fate for the one who seemed able to thwart Juha SALMINEN'S (FIN - HVA) plans. The Finnish legend therefore took advantage of his errors and won the day once again regaining some lead in the provisional league. Ahead from the very start of the race, his experience and technical prowess allowed him a fantastic win on Romanian soil. The third Finn, Eero REMES (FIN - KTM) also took advantage of SEISTOLAS's errors and came in in second position. Rodrig THAIN (FRA - HM Honda), valiant yesterday, climbed to third place on the podium and showed that he is one to be watched in this category. Julien GAUTHIER (FRA - TM) finishes just below the podium but ran a good Romanian GP. Lorenzo SANTOLINO (ESP - KTM), overtaken by the Finnish and French armadas, finished in 5th position. In Enduro 2, a great duel between Pierre-Alexandre RENET (FRA - Husaberg) and Antoine MEO (FRA - HVA) ending with a victory for the Husaberg rider, who can finally breathe a little more easily and can rest assured that his technical problems are no longer an issue. MEO, well-placed throughout the weekend, but never victorious, regains precious points on Cristobal GUERRERO (ESP - KTM) who finishes 3rd. Ivan CERVANTES (ESP - Gas Gas), just like yesterday, was unable to achieve a podium finish and is again 4th. Antoine BASSET (FRA - Yam) finishes in 5th place and has shown encouraging progress in this Romanian weekend, which should continue throughout the season. In the Enduro 3 category, Christophe NAMBOTIN (FRA - Gas Gas) confirms his incredibly good form with a 4th consecutive victory. And for the fourth time in a row, Mika AHOLA (FIN - HM Honda) was unable to stop his direct opponent earning points towards the title. The quadruple world champion finishes second. But the Frenchman, is only 23 points behind the Finn and there are still 4 days remaining – the end of the championship in Enduro 3 will be a very exciting one. Sebastien GUILLAUME (FRA - HVA) completes the podium and gains in confidence after a first half of the championship littered with injuries. Kurt CASELLI (USA – KTM) finishes 4th, encountering difficulties from the very first special and was then unable to make up lost time. The Swede Joakim LJUNGGREN (SWE - Husaberg) enters the Top 5 classification, at the expense of his teammate, Oriol MENA (ESP - Husaberg). Romania creates a successful environment especially for the young French since it is Romain DUMONTIER (FRA - Yam) who, after his pleasing third place yesterday, finishes today on the highest step of the podium in Enduro Junior. Jérémy JOLY (FRA - HM Honda), who finishes third, loses some points to his opponent Mario ROMAN (ESP - KTM). The young spaniard, in excellent form since Turkey, finishes again in second place. The winner of the first day, Mathias B ELLINO (FRA - Husaberg), finishes 4th, whilst Benoit FORTUNATO (FRA - Yam) ahead in the first few specials, finishes in 5th place further to a fall in the Enduro Test. In the Youth Cup 125 cc, Benjamin HERRERA (CHI - KTM) finishes first ahead of Jonathan MANZI (ITA - KTM) and Luis OLIVEIRA (POR - Yam). This 6th Grand Prix is now over and leaves us with a month and a half break, giving the riders the chance to recoup, and starts again on the 3rd and 4th of September for the penultimate stage of this 2011 season. Rendez-vous in Sant Julia for the next stage of the EWC.

What an incredible day of racing ! Everything went well at the Moto Club Sportiv Extreme Adventure...

What an incredible day of racing ! Everything went well at the Moto Club Sportiv Extreme Adventure. Having given their all to be successful in their debut in the MAXXIS FIM Enduro World Championship, added to which was the bright sunshine and the heat in Romania, over 41 degrees today, this Grand Prix will undoubtedly be one of the best of the 2011 season. All was arranged to try to bring the Romanians closer to Enduro, tents and fast food joints were placed at the foot of the specials in order to encourage spectators to stay for the whole day. However, the Romanian heat was the 68 participants' worst enemy, asnthey had to dig deep into their reserves to complete three 81 km laps. " The course is technical, but not necessarily difficult, but on the other hand, the heat is unbearable and I am going to have to give of my all to get onto the podium. " said Cristobal GUERRERO (ESP - KTM) at the end of the first lap. A first day in which Pierre-Alexandre RENET (FRA – Husaberg) was successful, who'd been annoyed by technical problems in the MAXXIS Grand Prix of Greece. " It's good for the spirits, seeing as in Greece I finished with two retirements and that apparently the cause of the breakdown has been discovered. It is a good thing for the end of the Championship " he told us. Taking the first place on the podium, the former MX World Champion was able to regain some confidence and proved to his competitors that he is o ne of the fastest riders in Enduro 2. The race for second place between Cristobal GUERRERO (ESP - KTM) and Antoine MEO (FRA - HVA) was full of suspense and finally ended with a success for the Iberian. " El Torito Rosso ", Ivan CERVANTES (ESP - Gas Gas), for his part achieved a 4th place, unable to compete for a place on the podium. Antoine BASSET (FRA - Yam) secures a good 5th place, just ahead of Simone ALBERGONI (ITA - HVA). Matti SEISTOLA (FIN - HVA) shows his strength in Enduro 1 for the third time since the start of the season. Leading from start to finish, he left the other competitors 10 seconds behind him. More and more impressive, the Husqvarna rider seems to be the only one able to stop his teammate Juha SALMINEN (FIN - HVA) in his quest for an 8th World title. This same SALMINEN finishes in 2nd place but not without huge efforts to ensure that he wasn't overtaken by his fellow countryman, Eero REMES (FIN - KTM). The Frenchman, Rodrig THAIN (FRA - HM Honda) was able to creep back up in the second lap and ends up in 4th place. Julien GAUTHIER (FRA - TM) achieves a well-deserved 5th place. Marc BOURGEOIS (FRA - Yam) showed some promise with his 6th place and shows that his objective is to get back to his best form. In Enduro 3, the Romanians witnessed a fantastic Christophe NAMBOTIN (FRA - Gas Gas) who shared his impressions with us at the end of the race. …. " Third victory in a row, it feels good, especially as I'm catching up with Mika (AHOLA), I was very strong in the straights, but I lost some seconds in the Cross Test and I am going to have to remedy this if i am to repeat this result tomorrow. " The Frenchman, always very fast, was led for the first 6 sp ecials and then, from the start of the third lap he achieved an exceptional time, took first place and was also able to leave his competitor for the day, Kurt CASELLI (USA-KTM) 14 seconds behind him. The American, who entertains with spectacular jumps, wasn't able to resist the return of Sébastien GUILLAUME (FRA - HVA) who finishes in second place, his best position of the season. Mika AHOLA (FIN - HM Honda), for his part, grabs fourth place. " Nambotin was quite simply too strong in the Enduro Test today, and I lost 21 seconds each time, can you believe it, 21 seconds. There was no way I could win! " The quadruple World Champion lost several points today and therefore sees his rival for the title, Christophe NAMBOTIN, coming back into play, which leads us to believe that there will be an exciting end of Championship in this category. Oriol Mena (ESP - Husaberg) and Joakim LJUNGGREN (FIN - Husaberg), finish 5th and 6th respectively. In Enduro Junior, we were witness to a 100 % French podium and a wonderful performance by Mathias BELLINO (FRA - Husaberg) who, for the first time in his young career, takes first place in a Grand Prix. He also scooped the Husqvarna Xtreme Test Award with a fantastic time of 1'55 "79 in this special. Jérémy Joly (FRA - HM Honda) and Romain DUMONTIER (FRA - Yam) complete the podium. Mario Roman (ESP - KTM) finishes in 4th and 5th place goes to Victor GUERRERO (ESP - Yam). Benoit FORTUNATO (FRA - YAM) finishes 6th. The temperature should continue to climb tomorrow, for the second day of this MAXXIS Romanian Grand Prix where the MAXXIS FIM Enduro World Championship could still be completely thrown open again, in all categories and where the romanian beauties will have eyes only for the stars of the series, who prepare for the scorching sun of BUZAU.

Only three weeks after the Grand Prix of Turkey and Greece, the MAXXIS FIM Enduro World Championship..

Only three weeks after the Grand Prix of Turkey and Greece, the MAXXIS FIM Enduro World Championship is back in Romania, in the charming city of Buzau.

For the first time, the International Motorcycling Federation has entrusted the organization to the Moto Club Sportiv Extreme Adventure and Federatia Romana Motociclism. The Moto Club chaired by Florin RADU is not at its first organization of an Enduro race. Since 2007, it organized the Romanian Extreme Adventure that takes place during six days. This year this rally will take place only one week after the Grand Prix. The Motorcycle Club has also organized many races of the Romanian Championship and also the Off Road Arena in 2009.

The Moto Club Sportiv Extreme Adventure has drawn a track of 74 km to cover 3 times per day. The Paddock will be located in the city center of Buzau on Piata Dacia, the main square of the city. The Enduro Test will be located at Sarata Monteoru (about 10kms from the paddock), while the Cross Test and the Xtreme Test will take place close to the town, at Maracineni. Like in Turkey, there will be no KTM Super Test on Friday night.

Romania a haven conducive to Enduro

Buzau is a town of more than 134 000 inhabitants located in eastern Romania, in the surrounding of Muntenia. This gorgeous town with its monastery and its magnificent Town Hall is crossed by the Buzau River, which gave its name to the city, and is thirty kilometers to Berca mud volcanoes. After the Etna in Sicily, other volcanoes will be the privileged place of the first Romanian Grand Prix of the MAXXIS FIM Enduro World Championship.

In Enduro 1, Juha SALMINEN (SF - HVA) has confirmed its first place during the two previous Grand Prix, however, he is not safe from a possible return of its competitors. His compatriot and teammate Matti SEISTOLA (SF - HVA) could fight with him for the first place. The third robber Eero REMES (SF - KTM) has suffered a lot during the last two Grand Prix but he is still in the title race and could also join in the fight for the first place. The nice come back of Rodrig THAIN (F – HM Honda) in Greece could be confirmed during the weekend. While we expect more from Lorenzo SANTOLINO (E - KTM) and Nicolas DEPARROIS (F - Kawasaki).

In the Enduro 2 class, the hunting of Antoine MEO (F - HVA) goes up a notch. The Provencal, "somewhat favored by fate" in Greece will have to avoid errors during the Grand Prix MAXXIS of Romania if he doesn't want to see the pack of competitors put pressure on him late in the season. This pack of revengers will be led by the Spanish duo Cristobal GUERRERO (E - KTM) and Ivan CERVANTES (E - Gas Gas) which completes the provisional and will have to undermine the dominance of the Frenchie. After mechanical problems in Greece, Pierre-Alexandre RENET (F - Husaberg) should give everything to be back in the race to the podium. For their part the Italian Simone ALBERGONI (HVA) and the French Antoine BASSET (Yam) will try to play the spoilers. Johnny AUBERT (F - KTM) will not participate in this Grand Prix due to an injury suffered in Greece.

Kurt CASELLI: A special referee for the Enduro 3

After his brilliant Grand Prix of Greece, the new darling of the World Enduro Kurt CASELLI (USA - KTM) will again play spoilsport during the Grand Prix. This should give to the duel Mika AHOLA (SF - HM Honda) - Christophe NAMBOTIN (F - Gas Gas) more spicy. The four-time world champion will attempt to take over the points left on the French in Greece. For his part the official Gas Gas will try to enchain a new doubled like in Greece to be closer to the Finn in the title race. But the Husaberg trio (LJUNGGREN, MENA, TARKKALA), led by a Joakim LJUNGGREN (SF) in constant progression, wants also to get involved in this fight. The two HVA officials Sebastien GUILLAUME (F) and Alex SALVINI (I) will do anything to save their season and the season of HVA in the Enduro 3 class.

In Enduro Junior, Jeremy JOLY (F - HM Honda) will have to stand firm in his first place already coveted by Mario ROMAN (E - KTM) and also the former number one Antti HELLSTEN (SF - KTM) who returns from injury and intends to resume his property. Jonathan MANZI (I - KTM) and Romain DUMONTIER (F - Yam) will aim to get back on the podium and fight for the first places, while Benoit FORTUNATO (F - YAM) will be a little bit the "national" of the race as he knows the area well as he gives many courses to Enduro Romanian riders .

After the Turkish Aegean coast, the Greek meteors, the caravan of the EWC will face the mud volcanoes and the dark forests of Muntenia.
So many beautiful and intriguing landscapes that the stars of the World Enduro will not have the leisure to enjoy because of the issues of each category. This Grand Prix MAXXIS of Romania, sixth in the 2011 season could have a revival role in the various races for the title.

Information:
- Buzau (Muntenia Region)
- 110km northeast of Bucharest (nearest airport)
- Saturday 9 and Sunday, July 10: 9:00 am departure and arrival at 5:00 p.m.
- Websites: www.enduro-abc.com and www.extremeadventurebuzau.ro
- Circuit: 74km - 3 laps
- Free admission

The second day of the MAXXIS Grand Prix of Greece that took place in the furnace that is Kalampaka (..

The second day of the MAXXIS Grand Prix of Greece that took place in the furnace that is Kalampaka (37°), turned into a bloodbath for many riders, all the while amplifying the lessons learnt during the first day. With just over 50 riders reaching the finishing line, that is to say 40% of withdrawals, this final day caused untold damage to many men and machines. The heat only added to the already ruined ground and together caused a number of withdrawals often due to problems with the suspensions rendered inefficient over the course of the race.

Julien Gauthier(TM) in Enduro 1, Sébastien Guillaume (HVA) in Enduro 3 were both victims of this misfortune, whilst Simone Albergoni (HVA) could not relive his performance of the previous day in E2, due to engine failure !

Similar unfortunate event for Pierre-Alexandre Renet (HUSABERG), who withdraws at the end of the first round for the same problems he had encountered yesterday (Fuel pump injection?). Antoine Meo (HVA) finds himself quite alone in the lead of the Enduro 2 category, but was still forced to battle throughout the day with the tough Andalucian, Cristobal Guerrero (KTM) who affirms his presence from race to race and who has turned out to be the best KTM rider overall in this season. After yesterday's setbacks, Ivan Cervantes (Gas Gas) was the only star to cut his losses, despite the precarious "health" of his 250 Gas Gas !

And of course, Johnny Aubert (KTM) did not start this morning, following injuries he incurred yesterday (a light fracture of the vertebral apophysis). A disaster such as this for the favourites meant that the outsiders were able to succeed, such as Antoine Basset (YAM), Jean-François Goblet (YAM), Aigar Leok (TM) or Gonçon Reis (HM HONDA) who all scored some big points in this championship.

But the strongest man of this MAXXIS Grand Prix of Greece is without doubt Christophe Nambotin (Gas Gas) who flew past the battles in Enduro 3 during these past 48 hours of race. Serene, determined, focused and physically fit, the Gas Gas representative was impressive in his mastery and has shown himself to be of a level higher than his rivals. Should his withdrawal from the Turkish Grand Prix be forgotten?

"This is the first double that I have achieved in this championship and certainly helps towards forgetting about my disappointment at having had to withdraw in Turkey. My objective now is to try to win as many races as possible and we shall see what will be at the end of the season."

Kurt Caselli (KTM) achieves a fantastic second place in the last timed section and seems to be one of the only riders to have enjoyed this difficult second day. "I am used to these conditions in the USA and also to the heat and today the course seemed easier than yesterday. We modified the suspensions slightly chosen by David Knight at the beginning of the season and I felt better on the bike than yesterday. Of course I am very happy with this result, particularly as it is on a bike that I am only just getting to know and I can't wait to come back for the next Grand Prix in Romania!"

Joakim Ljunggren (HUSABERG) and Mika Ahola (HM HONDA) took part in an entertaining duel for the 3rd place on the podium and for energy (since they were also suffering digestive problems as were Botturi, Cruvalle and many more): the championship leader completes the Podium trio.

In Enduro 1, just like in the previous day, Juha Salminen (HVA) had to work hard to distance himself from his teammate Matti Seistola (HVA) and was only able to do so in the Enduro Test of the 3rd lap. "The Machine" marks a new success and continues to impress with his brio and the smoothness of his riding, which should stand him in good stead to achieve an 8th World title (Record !). Rodrig Thain (HM HONDA) and Eero Remes (KTM) also took part in an impressive battle for third place which will slip through the Finn's fingers with only tenths of a second between them.

A lot of tension in the Juniors, where the unfortunate Anti Hellsten (KTM) woefully remained in the Paddock and witnessed as a spectator the tremendous battle between Joly (HM HONDA), Roman (KTM), Bellino (HUSABERG) et Fortunato (YAM) who end up finishing in that order, led by the young Frenchman by little more than a second after an hour and 10 minutes of timed sections.

But Jérémy Joly, finally a winner this year, will have to remain wary of Mario Roman who is gaining power and has just strung together 3 consecutive victories to the point of now being only 11 points away from the HM HONDA rider who this week became the new leader of the Juniors Championship. As per usual, Jonathan Manzi (KTM) saves the Italian honour by winning the FIM Youth Cup 125cc.

This Turkey / Greece round has managed to therefore destabilise the fragile hierarchy of the championship and has marked an indisputable turning point in the season that sees Salminen, Meo and Ahola as solid leaders in their respective categories…. And yet, these two heat-ridden Grands Prix, remind us that in these sports, nothing can be taken for granted and we will see that the vanquished will, as soon as the MAXXIS GP of Romania takes place, will return to the race seeking success and revenge.

The next meet on the 9th and 10th of July in Buzau, North East of Bucharest is already on their minds.

What a race ! For a first set-up, the MOLEK volunteers succeeded in their endeavours way above expected…. An exceptional setting, impeccable logistics, a beautiful route, with a variety of specials, as much technical as could be wished for and a large audience…. Everything goes smoothly in Kalampaka, at the foot of the Meteors.

The ninety participants of this fifth event of the MAXXIS FIM Enduro World Championship are unanimous in applauding not only the organisation and the beauty, but also the difficulty of the race. "It is a difficult race because there are many specials, one after the other. The Enduro test is almost 11 minutes long and we have to remain focused at all time. Add to all this the heat, and this 1st day of the Greece MAXXIS Grand Prix, is really not easy !" Alessandro Botturi (ITA-GAS GAS) reflects the opinion of the stars of the World Enduro who have all had to dig deep into their reserves today throughout this 8-hour race.

For the heat is also omnipresent in the little town of Thessalie and the barometer happily announces 35°, which strengthens without let up during the race.

This is a race that Christophe Nambotin (FRA-GAS GAS) in Enduro 3 managed to fly through ! Irritated by his withdrawal in Turkey due to mechanical problems, the Frenchman, was today able to dominate from beginning to end. "Apart from a little fall last night, everything went smoothly and my bike worked beautifully. It is a wonderful Grand Prix and I hope to achieve the double tomorrow !"

Mika Ahola (FIN-HM HONDA) starts badly today, but throughout the day makes up time and ends up delivering an amazing come back. But the championship leader had to fight hard with Kurt Caselli (USA-KTM) remarkable throughout on his 500 EXC, who, without doubt brings a breath of fresh air and spontaneity to the championship and for example, he takes the opportunity to drink a swift half during the time check in the last lap ! Unfortunately, he loses a few precious seconds in the last Enduro test and reaches the last step of the podium, when he previously looked set to reach second place….

And it is the wondrous Joakim Ljunggren (SWE-HUSABERG), behind for much of the day who goes on to snatch the second place thanks to a meteoric 3rd lap. "I rode really well in the Extreme and in the Cross test of the last lap and this second place position is really unexpected for me !"

Alex Salvini (ITA-HVA) was the other star of this superb battle in Enduro 3 and proves that he is now a true Enduro rider in just half a season and is worth more than his 5th place of the day.

Huge developments in Enduro 2 where the Husaberg representative Pierre Alexandre Renet (FRA), who dominated for the whole day, before falling prey to a huge disappointment in the last lap. "My bike started to lose power in the Extreme and then the problem intensified in the Cross test and the Enduro Test and I wasn't even able to climb the hills. I am really disappointed…" Johnny Aubert (FRA-KTM) was on the heels of "PELA" before he also made a mistake in the Cross test of the fourth lap. Getting up feeling groggy, the KTM representative goes on to faint a short while later and is therefore unable to reach the finishing line.

Another dramatic turn of events sees Ivan Cervantes (ESP-GAS GAS) withdrawing from the race, betrayed by the engine of his GAS GAS at the end of the 2nd lap… "my bike hadn't worked well since this morning " said the catalan in the paddock " but I am going to be able to start again tomorrow and I am going to give my all to get this victory".

Once again, distanced in the first lap by Renet and Aubert, Antoine Meo (FRA - HVA) couldn't have asked for a better outcome and therefore achieves an unexpected victory. " I think that may well be the luckiest win of my career ! " And apart from the win in itself, Antoine Meo succeeds in making good progress in this championship since Aubert, Cervantes and Renet today scored no points…

Anti Hellsten (FIN-KTM) the promising young Finn could have saved the honour of the " orange team " as he has been ever dominant in the Enduro Junior from the beginning of the season… Jaded, he made a mistake in the Super Test last night, leading to a heavy fall. He got away without a serious injury, but in a lot of pain with a weakened shoulder, and Anti Hellsten was in no fit state to start the race this morning and will have to wait for the GP MAXXIS of Romania to make his return to the Championship. Bad news for the blond Scandinavian and a blessing for Roman (ESP-KTM), Joly (FRA-HM HONDA), Manzi (ITA-KTM), Dumontier (FRA-YAM), who are all back in the race for the title once again.

The barometer should once again climb tomorrow for the 2nd day of the MAXXIS Grand Prix of Greece, where the Gods of Enduro will look fondly upon the participants of this GP who get ready to deliver a brand new and arduous battle in the furnace of Kalampaka.

Greece is a faithful country of the MAXXIS FIM Enduro World Championship and welcomes each year a Grand Prix for nearly 10 years.

But, this year, the traditional city of Serres lets the organization of this event to KALAMPAKA located in the surrounding of Thessalie, in the Western North of Greece. KALAMPAKA is known because it is built in the foothills of these immense and strange gray rocks which are the Meteors. These dark stalagmites rising towards the sky, and completely isolated from the rest of the world, have many monasteries.
Perched in a precarious way at the top of the abyss, dominated at the background by the mountains of Pinde, the monasteries are one of the most attractive landscapes. At the end of the Byzantine time and during the Turkish domination, this monastic state is become the refuge of persecuted and was transformed in the center of the Byzantine art, where the monastic life started at the 11th century. This activity was at the apogee during the 15th and 16th centuries when the decline started. So, on the 24 monasteries built during centuries, only 5 are nowadays still inhabited: The Big Meteora, Varlaam, Agia Trias, Agios Stephanos and Roussano.

THE INHERITANCE OF UNESCO !!!

Each year, thousands of visitors visit this single geological phenomenon which is protected by the UNESCO. KALAMPAKA (12 000 inhabitants), picturesque and alive small city, is thus a main port of call of the Greek tourism and will be the single and exceptional place of the Grand Prix MAXXIS of Greece.

MO.LE.K, the local club, will be the organizer of this 5th Grand Prix of the Great season thanks to the dynamism of its members managed by Spyros MPAOUTIS (President of MO.LE.K) and Sotiris POULIOS (President of the race).
A track of 55 kms in the foothills of the prestigious Météores was traced by the local enduro men who chose to gather the Enduro Test (6,5 kms), the Cross Test (3,5 kms) and the Extreme Test in the old military camp of the city located at less than 2 kms far from Kalampaka. This excellent choice will delight the spectators who will attend a permanent show during the 4 laps of the race.

From Friday evening, the KTM Super Test will always mark the start of the hostilities at 18:00 at the old military camp.
After a long trip by plane or by road (1700 kms), a couple of hours after the Grand Prix of Turkey, the 100 entries of this Grand Prix MAXXIS of Greece are looking forward discovering KALAMPAKA and the Meteors and fighting again…

THE SPARKS ARE GOING TO FLY

Eero REMES (SF-KTM) lost "important points" of the Championship to the favour of his compatriot and large rival Juha SALMINEN (HVA) in the goal of title ENDURO 1... Worse, the 2nd official HUSQVARNA rider, the impressing Matti SEISTOLA (SF) is coming back very quickly! The official KTM must thus do his best in Greece if he does not want to have an end of season without interest. Rodrig THAIN (F-HM HONDA) and also Lorenzo SANTOLINO (E-KTM) and Nicolas DEPARROIS (F-KAWA) will try to confirm their ascending form of the GP of Turkey.

More than Eero REMES in Enduro 1, Johnny AUBERT (F-KTM) knows that he will not become World champion in ENDURO 2 this year… "This year has to be forgotten! However this one has become under best conditions… I will thus try to find pleasure on the bike until this Grand Prix of Greece and my goal will be to win the 4 last Grand Prix" entrusted the Frenchie during his transfer towards Greece. He will thus be an important outsider for the quartet Antoine MEO (F-HVA), Ivan CERVANTES (E-GAS GAS), Cristobal GUERRERO (E-KTM) and Pierre Alexandre RENET (F-HUSABERG) who remain in the title's way in spite of the small ahead of Antoine MEO.

Sorry of the mishap of Christophe NAMBOTIN (break suspensions) on his 300 GAS GAS, Mika AHOLA (SF-HM HONDA) wonders well how he will be able to find the necessary concentration for the end of the season in ENDURO 3. The ahead of 40 points at the standing could indeed appear as an inconvenient with a fall of motivation, which would be surprising for the 4 time World Champion. Christophe NAMBOTIN (F) will perhaps want to forget his Turkish disillusion whereas the official HUSABERG, Joakim LJUNGGREN (S) and Marko TARKKALA (SF) will again aim the podium and why not the win. A reaction of Sebastien GUILLAUME (F-HVA) is awaited after his disappointing GP of Turkey just like a confirmation of the improving of Alex SALVINI (HVA), the only Italian who succeed in Turkey.

Finally in JUNIORS, Anti HELLSTEN (SF-KTM) who crashed many times in Fethiye, will be again under pressure by the Frenchies JOLY (HM HONDA), FORTUNATO (YAMAHA) and DUMONTIER (YAMAHA) and also by the astonishing Mario ROMAN (E-KTM), double winner in Fethiye and which seems to have found the instructions of his KTM 4 times!

After Sicily, the Turkish Aegean coast, here we are in the foothills of the impressing Meteors which are erecting in front of the wheels of the World Enduro's stars!!
However, they will not have the pleasure to appreciate this exceptional site so much the sporting stakes are important… In any case, this 2011 season is going on magic places for a great show of colors which offers much prestige to a series which gains, thus, much in notoriety.

Information :

- Kalampaka (Province of Thessalie)
- Friday 18:00 : KTM Super Test
- June Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th : Start at 9:00 – Finnish at 16:00
- Organization : MO.LE.K, Profitis Ilias Kalambaka, 42200 KALAMPAKA - GREECE
- Websites : www.enduro-abc.com and www.molek.gr
- Track : 55 kms – 4 laps
- Free access

Dramatic turns of events featured highly in this 2nd day of the GP SPORTOTO of TURKEY, once again taking place under a scorching sun and summer weather. And in the first instance, it is the KTM rider Johnny AUBERT (FRA) who suffers a disenchantment, a few kilometres away from the start …. " My bike stopped suddenly just before the first Cross Test. The pipe leading to the carburator unhooked itself and the time it took to find the damage, I was already 3 minutes behind ! " Persecuted with bad luck since the beginning of the season, Johnny AUBERT gave a good performance, however, in this ENDURO 2 category where the battle raged throughout the day with this time the French taking revenge on the Spaniards since Antoine MEO (FRA - HVA) achieves this precious victory, 4 seconds ahead of Pierre Alexandre RENET (FRA - HUSABERG), who felt once again motivated despite his repeated falls yesterday. Cristobal GUER RERO (ESP - KTM) and Ivan CERVANTES (ESP - GAS GAS) also shone today, although they had to make do with lower places. Satisfaction and smiles all around at TM Racing as well, with Aigar LEOK's (EST) fantastic 5th place, in only his 4 race in ENDURO. Matti SEISTOLA (FIN - HVA) continues to stun his audience and wins the ENDURO 1 category, by a mere 2 seconds in front of his teammate Juha SALMINEN (FIN - HVA). The ex crossman from Finland, literally explodes into this, his second season in Enduro to the point of beating his mentor , JUHA SALMINEN. Since his victory in Italy, Matti SEISTOLA has impressed with both his speed and his strength of mindset and must surely regret his withdrawal from the Portuguese GP due to mechanical problems. He confirms the Husqvarna domination in this category, ahead of an unconvincing Eero REMES (FIN - KTM)…. " I really like the format of this race, with its chain of specials. Of course this second victory please s me greatly and I think that my very intense training over the winter with Juha SALMINEN and Mika AHOLA has a lot to do with my progress. Mika AHOLA taught me some incredible things this winter, and I owe him a lot…. " In this 2nd day of races, Rodrig THAIN (FRA - HM HONDA) also shone with a highly deserved podium finish… under the eyes of the unfortunate Thomas OLDRATI (ITA - KTM) who did not start today and had to watch the race as a spectator, just like Cédric MELOTTE (BEL - GAS GAS), victim of an engine breakdown yesterday. Another major turn of events today in ENDURO 3, with the withdrawal in the third lap of the GAS GAS rider, Christophe NAMBOTIM " I was leading by 5 seconds when my engine let me down… this will make it very difficult to catch up with Mika AHOLA in the Championship ". The French man showed himself to be at Mika AHOLA's (FIN - HM HONDA) level, before the breakdown took place….. a godsend for Mika AHOLA who is now almost unmovable as leader of the category and who beats his adversaries, race after race : KNIGHT in spain, GUILLAUME in Portugal and now NAMBOTIN. " NAMBOTIN'S withdrawal from the race really is bad news. I have now a 40 point lead in the Championship and being mid-s eason, I will struggle to remained focused. " admitted a generous Mika AHOLA at the end of the race. The Finnish giant, Marko TARKKALA (HUSABERG) scored a remarkable 2nd place behind his swedish team-mate, Joakim LJUNGGREN to complete a 100% scandinavian podium …. It is also to be noted in Enduro 3 an excellent performance by Alex SALVINI (ITA - HVA) 4th, and Fabio MOSSINI (ITA - BETA) 5th, whilst Sébastien GUILLAUME (FRA - HVA) was completely out of it for the whole weekend. (5/7) Just like yesterday the young Spaniard Mario ROMAN (KTM), brilliantly resisted the French trio DUMONTIER (YAM), JOLY (HM HONDA), FORTUNATO (YAM) in the ENDURO JUNIOR, and in a similar trend, so did the Italian Jonathan MANZI (KTM), who was once again the winner in the FIM YOUTH CUP 123. Just enough time to take a breath and the performers in the MAXXIS FIM ENDURO WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP will once again take to the road in the direction of Greece and to the wonderful city of KALAMPAKA, at the foot of the Meteors for the 5th Grand Prix of the season, which will again take place in wonderful surroundings.

Not a single Grand Prix this year seems to have escaped the head, and certainly, upon arriving in Fethiye (Turkey), on the shores of the Aegean Sea, the weather has continued with this trend and has not ease for the 70 participants in this 4th leg of the season. To be honest, the whole crew of the caravan of the MAXXIS FIM ENDURO WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP would rather be enjoying the beaches and the crystalline waters rather than enduring the 7 hours of riding, 180 kms of difficult routes and 13 very technical and demanding timed specials. Despite the cancellation of the KTM SUPER TEST last night (due to security reasons) and the difficulties following the Turkish elections on this first day, taking place unusually on a Friday, the race went quite well, under the glaring sun and temperatures of around 40 degrees. The conditions of the race seem rather familiar to the Spaniards who managed an astounding double in the ENDURO 2 with in particular, Cristobal GUERRERO's (KTM) superb victory, who establishes himself brilliantly after having battled all day with his fellow countryman, Ivan CERVANTES, who rode easily on his 250 GAS GAS 2 stroke. "this is my 3rd Grand Prix victory of my career and my first on my KTM. Through the races I am feeling more and more comfortable on the bike and we are working well with the team mechanics. And then, I felt very comfortable on this difficult circuit, and as I like the heat…." Once again at a distance at the end of the first lap, from the leader of the championship Antoine MEO (FRA - HVA) finishes the day well, but unable to reach the Spanish duo. A moment of struggle with Guerrero and Cervantes, Johnny AUBERT (FRA - KTM), finished with a bit more difficulty, but showed courage, due to his painful foot, following his injury at the Italian GP. An unexpected Spanish double in Enduro 2, therefore, with an excellent effort from Ivan Cervantes who regains some important points against Antoine MEO. Like the Spaniards, the Finnish shone once again in ENDURO 1, with an impeccable double for the HUSQVARNA "SALMINEN/SEISTOLA" duo. With this new victory, the 4th this season, Juha Salminen reinforces his position in the lead…. But will have to rely more and more on his teammate Matti SEISTOLA who makes good progress from race to race and does not budge in front of his teammate SALMINEN in the last timed section for 2 seconds after a 51 minute lap! "It was a demanding day, but full of rhythm with its series of timed specials. This made the race even more exciting and to win obviously gives me great satisfaction… but the season is still long!" A good performance as well from the Frenchman Rodrig THAIN (HM HONDA) who for a long while kept the lead and was behind SALMINEN by only 9 seconds…. A larger distance from him was Eero REMES (FIN - KTM) who gives Juha Salminen some big points from the point of view of the Championship, whilst the other KTM rider, Thomas OLDRATI, abandons half-way through the day and showed himself to be completely of their league. On the other hand, Lorenzo SANTOLINO (ESP - KTM) and Nicolas DEPARROIS (FRA - KAWA) regain some control after a difficult start to the season (5th and 6th). No surprise in the ENDURO 3, however, where Mika AHOLA (FIN - HM HONDA) crushes the opposition accompanied by the Swede Joakim LJUNGGREN (HUSABERG), who achieves a very promising second place. Mika Ahola was decidedly too good today and it would have taken Christophe NAMBOTIN (FRA - GAS GAS) a great deal of work to combat this effort. But the GAS GAS representative fell several times in the first few specials, therefore losing all hope of victory. A lovely surprise in the JUNIORS where the young Spaniard Mario ROMAN (KTM) wins his first victory of the season and shows the Spanish skill in this first day. Anti HELLSTEN (FIN -KTM) completes a great double in the under 23s category for KTM and once again, the French man Benoit FORTUNATO (YAMAHA) proves his potential and completes the podium. Compatriots Romain DUMONTIER (YAM) and Jeremy JOLY (FRA - HM HONDA) lose once again precious point in his duel with Anti Hellsten for the title. Jonathan MANZI (ITA - KTM) once again wins the FIM YOUTH CUP 125 and saves the Italian honour. Eero REMES, Antoine MEO, Johnny AUBERT, Christophe NAMBOTIN, Sébasiten GUILLAUME… are therefore amongst the first vanquished of the day. A reaction from them is therefore expected in tomorrow's 2nd day of the Supertoto Turkish GP which promises to be an exciting affair.
