The Honda Grand Prix of Brazil is ready to start at the beautiful facilities of Beto Carrero, the biggest amusement park in Latin America. It will be the fourth year in a row that the FIM Motocross World Championship visits Brazil, but it will be the first time that the venue Beto Carrero hosts the Championship. It was only last year during a National race that Beto Carrero hosted a motocross race, but there is no doubt that it will be at the FIM Motocross World Championship level. The first reactions of the teams, international media and everybody who has already visited the track have been very positive, so the scenario seems perfect to host the fifth Grand Prix of the FIM Motocross World Championship. MX1
The clear dominant of the MX1 class is Red Bull KTM Factory Racing's Cairoli, who is already leading the series with 29 points advantage over second classified Desalle. The Italian obtained his 45 GP win last weekend in Mexico and he is determined to add one more victory to his records on Sunday. Rockstar Energy Suzuki World's Desalle has not been able to be at the top of the podium this season, but he has proved that he has the speed and the rhythm to fight for it. Last year he was on the third step of the podium, but Desalle will give his best to go 1-1 this weekend in Brazil. Kawasaki Racing Team's Paulin was third last year in the MX2 Grand Prix of Brazil and he has flown from Mexico willing to obtain another GP victory this weekend. The French rider did not have a good weekend in Guadalajara because after the fourth position in the first race, his Kawasaki failed right before the start of the second heat. Paulin is still third in the point standings. The fourth place in the MX1 championship is for Red Bull KTM Factory Racing's De Dycker, who missed the podium last weekend being tight in points with Philippaerts. The Belgian is doing an excellent job since the beginning of the season and in Mexico he managed to finish third in the first moto, so De Dycker is looking forward to hand KTM his first podium of the season with the Austrian team. CP377 Monster Energy Kawasaki Pro Circuit's Christophe Pourcel is completing the top five of the point standings, but he is just two points behind De Dycker and five behind Paulin. Pourcel was also touched by bad luck in Mexico after having some green fence stuck in his back wheel at the end of the first race, but he is for sure one of the riders to take into account for the overall victory this weekend. Philippaerts, winner of the 2011 GP of Brazil in Indaiatuba, is looking forward to racing this weekend in Beto Carrero and try to be on the podium once again. The Italian, as well as his compatriot Cairoli, admitted in Mexico that coming to Brazil is always a pleasure and Philippaerts even described it as his second home Grand Prix. Frossard has travelled to Brazil after not being able to take part in the second race of the Mexican Grand Prix due to the heavy pain on his right knee. The French will do his best to take part in the Brazilian GP, but it will all depend on his just operated knee. Balbi is one of the favourite Brazilian riders to be fighting among the best MX1 motocross riders, but Wellington Garcia is again fully fit to fight for the top ten positions. In fact, last weekend, Garcia won the first National race after the serious accident he suffered last year in Bulgaria. 2011 MX1 Podium in Indaiatuba
1. David Philippaerts
2. Antonio Cairoli
3. Clement Desalle
2011 MX1 POLEMAN: David Philippaerts MX2
Red Bull KTM Factory Racing's Herlings keeps on adding GP victories under his records, and so far he has dominated six out of the eight heats disputed so far in the 2012 season. The Dutch rider will take part in Brazil being the red plate holder with 40 points advantage over his teammate Van Horebeek, who is second in the point standings. Van Horebeek succeeded in being on the third step of the podium in Mexico last weekend and he managed to keep the second position in the point standings. The Belgian admitted that both Herlings and Searle are really fast, but he will do his best to keep on fighting for the top three positions of the championship. Just one point behind Van Horebeek is Team Floride Monster Energy Kawasaki Pro Circuit's Searle, who is looking forward to repeating the victory he obtained in Bulgaria. Searle admitted that he is feeling really good and his Kawasaki is better than ever, so he might be able to leave Brazil being second in the MX2 point standings. His teammate Roelants is fourth in the MX2 championship and last weekend he actually proved that he is fully fit again from the big crash he suffered in the first heat in Fermo. Roelants was on the podium in the first two Grand Prix of the season, so Brazil might be the comeback of the Belgian on the rostrum. Red Bull KTM Factory Racing's Tixier is completing the top five of the point standings of the MX2 class. The French rider is just two points ahead Anstie, so he really needs to make a good performance this weekend to keep the position in the championship. Assunçao, Vilardi and Lima, who are really equal in the National championship, are the Brazilian riders to look at in the MX2 class. 2011 MX2 Podium in Indaiatuba
1. Jeffrey Herlings
2. Ken Roczen
3. Gautier Paulin
2011 MX1 POLEMAN: Ken Roczen TIMETABLE
Saturday: MX2 Free Practice 9:30; MX1 Free Practice 10:15; MX2 Pre-Qualifying Practice 13:15; MX1-Pre Qualifying Practice 14:00; MX2 Qualifying Race 16:10; MX1 Qualifying Race 17:00. Sunday: MX2 Warm up 9:00; MX1 Warm up 9:30; MX2 Grand Prix Race 1 12:10; MX1 Grand Prix Race 1 13:10; MX2 Grand Prix Race 2 15:03; MX1 Grand Prix race 2 16:03.

Monster Energy Yamahas David Philippaerts blasted back into the spotlight with a fabulous second moto victory on his works YZ450FM. The Italians success closed the first quarter of the FIM Motocross World Championship at a hot and busy Nicolas España for the inaugural Grand Prix of Mexico. 25,000 spectators travelled to the venue a short distance from the centre of Guadalajara and under sunny skies and hot temperatures this fourth round of sixteen was played out on a difficult track that left little room for error.

DP walked the podium for the first time since the Spanish Grand Prix last summer and won a race for the first time since the 2011 trip to Brazil. Importantly it was also the former world champions first celebration after a seven month recovery from his injury sustained last year.

The weekend began with the riders concerned over the volume of dust across the dry track during the Saturday practice programme. Philippaerts, Steven Frossard and Shaun Simpson along with all the other world championship regulars elected to sit out the qualification heat and entered the gate on Sunday in their positions obtained in pre-qualifying practice. The terrain had been watered and prepared well for the two motos.

Philippaerts was unlucky to collide with Simpson as both held positions inside the top six going through the waves on the first lap of the opening race. Simpson suffered a briefly dislocated shoulder in the fall and Philippaerts restarted from last position and ten seconds behind the pack to fight his way up to a bright and crucial tenth place. Frossard was pushing for ground in the top ten when he again caught his recently injured knee on a bump and was painfully forced to retire from the race and the Grand Prix.

Philippaerts was the sole entrant for the team for the second moto and his part in a thrilling four-rider scrap for the win was electrifying. Clearly growing in confidence as he worked his way to the front from sixth position, Philippaerts had some inventive and effective lines and gave the YZ450FM a maiden victory in 2012. His haul of points has taken him from ninth to sixth in the MX1 standings.

The fitness and condition of Simpson and Frossard will be assessed in the coming days with a view towards round five. Monster Energy Yamaha will now continue their South American adventure and will fly from Mexico City to Florianopolis this week for the Grand Prix of Brazil at Beto Carrero.

David Philippaerts, 3rd:
I'm so happy to win that second moto. Im back! This is important for me because it was a long time since I last won. Mentally it can be difficult to deal with race crashes and results that you know can be better. Im in great shape and its awesome to be back on the podium. I had some bad luck with another crash in the first race. Shaun came across and we clashed together. I had to enter the pits but then restarted last and fought back to tenth. I pushed every lap and it was hard work at this altitude and in this heat but the result was important and it paid off with the podium.

Steven Frossard, DNF:
My feeling in my knee was better for this weekend so I tried to ride. At the beginning of the first race I was good. I moved from fifteenth to ninth and had a group of riders in front of me but coming past the pitlane my leg came off the peg and hit the ground and I had a lot of pain in my leg again. It was too much to handle so I had to stop. I think the problem is that I havent been able to ride much for several weeks and it is difficult to get back in the rhythm. I dont know. I feel a bit better now than I did after the first race so I will wait a few days to see if we can try again in Brazil.

Troyan circuit waked up to sunny morning. Everybody was looking forward to racing on this well prepared track. First turn was on 65cc and 85cc classes, but then could start fights for victory in MX3 cathegory. In the first race dominated Slovenian Klemen Gercar. Afterall first overall victory in career tended to Czech KTM rider Martin Michek.

Race 1
UFO Racing Team rider Klemen Gercar with no. 62 on his back shined in the first race MX3 on Sunday. Klemen Gercar profited from very good start. As many riders noticed yesterday, start is one of the most important parts of race here in Troyan MX track. In the first corner he was fighting for the first place with Michael Staufer. In a big mess was Klemen the fastest and he pushed hard every lap until the end and he could come for victory in the Race 1.

Klemen Gercar right after the Race 1: "I´m very happy that I win. I love the track here and everything. My bike was perfect and aslo the whole my team. The start was really good for me, I was first for all time long. Also I save energy for the second race."

Just right next to Klemen Gercar in the first corner Michael Staufer was trying to get the holeshot. He was riding in second place in the first lap. Another Slovenian rider Mateuz Irt was attacking him all the time. Finally after several turns Irt took Staufer over and second place belongs to Slovenian rider. Thanks to his fast and good technically ride Irt enlarged the gap in front of third Staufer.

Michael Staufer was a little bit disappointed. He had very good start, fast ride, but he was not able to catch motivated Slovenian riders. Stable and concentrated ride brought him third place in Race one. The same result as in qualifying races.

Yesterday´s qualification winner Martin Michek was fast in the start too. Then in the first corner all the riders closed him. His position after start wasn´t good, but he was fighting in every turn and during the race Martin catchig up third Michael Staufer. At the finish line was gap between Michek and Staufer only one second.

After first four riders was 15 secs gap. Overall championship leader Austrian Matthias Walkner finished on his KTM at fifth place. First laps he was fighting around seventh position, then he pushed harder and moved to the front. In the end of the Race 1 was he faster than Finnish Honda rider Antti Pyrhönen. Antti´s aim was to finish in top five. This year riders are mostly at the same level and not good start for Antti signified sixth position.

Faster of Schmidinger brothers Günter was trying to catch Antti, but Antti defended his position. The result from this fight was seventh for Günter. The next three riders crossed finish line with 10 secs gap to Schmidinger. Top ten riders of Race 1 closed Polish rider Lukasz Lonka, another Czech rider Petr Bartos and second Finnish rider in top Ludvig Söderberg.

Race 2
Afternoon´s Race 2 changed a lot. For that time it was Michek´s turn. He took better start position, got the holeshot and after that everything went better. In the beginning of Race 2 Czech rider Martin Michek was catchig up with Slovenian Mateuz Irt. After 15 minutes of riding Mateuz cashed and lost plenty positions. Michek was ready to come for his first MX3 victory.

Martin Michek: "I am so so happy. This is my first win in this race and also first overall win. In the warp up I had a bad crash, so in the Race 1 I was riding with a pain. I hadn´t good start, but I finished fourth. In the second race I took the holeshot and I was ready to win. Everything went well, motorbike was perfect and I was fast. I am happy."

Team MiBag Schmidinger World MX rider Günter Schmidinger showed ride of this season. In the first laps he was making nervous Mateuz Irt, the second rider in that time. After Irt´s crash Günter moved to second place and he was closing Michek. Finally Günter Schmidinger ended in the second place and it brought to him also second overall.

Günter Schmidinger: "The battle with Martin was fun. It was also difficult to go faster than Martin. I was trying to ride without mistakes. But finally, I am satisfied and also happy with my podium."

Ceriel Klein Kromhof, Dutch rider, pushed to his maximum. His performance in Race 2 was great. In the second part of Race 2 he was defending his third in front of Matthias Walkner. Fight wheel to wheel lasted to the end of race. More succesful were Kromhof.

Matthias finished in fourth place. On the other hand he can be peaceful, because he is still leading the overall championship classification. It means for him red plate for next Italian round too. Best lap in that Race 2 belongs just right for Matthias Walkner, Austrian KTM rider.

Antti Pyrhönen´s wish to be in the top five riders this weekend became reality in the second race. He made a good start, better performance and everything was ready for nice result. Every rider wanted to be the best, for this reason he hadn´t it easy. In the end he succesfully defend his fifth and in last lap he took over slower Klemen Gercar.

Klemen´s second race was looking very good. He started around fifth position, but he was moving to the front. It cost him a lot of forces and in last two laps he was loosing positions. He finished sixth, but in overall classification on Bulgarian round he went to podium to second place.

Only one second behind Gercar finished fast rider Mateuz Irt. Due to his mistake after few laps he obtained seventh position. Martin Michek´s teammate Petr Bartos was catching up with another Czech rider Petr Michalec for eight position. Petr Bartos was faster with 2 secs lead. Michael Staufer was in top five in the beginning of the race, but then he started to loose positions. He finished in tenth place.

MX3 Race 1 Results – 1. Gercar Klemen (SLO, Honda), 34:07.490; 2. Irt Matevz (SLO, Suzuki), 34:10.248; 3. The MX2 staring list for tomorrow will be as follows: Leib, Anstie, Salazar, Ruelas, Oro, Vieyra, Aguilar, Sanchez, Nungaray, Mejia, Herlings, Searle, Van Horebeek, Teillet, Ferrandis, Petrov, Lupino, Roelants, Tixier, Nicholls, Coldenhoff, Charlier, Butron, Kullas, Guillod, Larsen, Lieber. MX2 Qualifying Race top ten: 1. Michael Leib (USA, Yamaha), 25:29.932; ; 2. Max Anstie (GBR, Honda), +0:18.980; 3. Jetro Salazar (PER, KTM), +0:42.938; 4. Luis Ruelas (MEX, Kawasaki), -1 lap(s); 5. Carlos Oros (MEX, Kawasaki), -1 lap(s); 6. Brandon Vieyra (MEX, Suzuki), -1 lap(s); 7. Alvaro Aguilar (MEX, KTM), -1 lap(s); 8. Pablo Sanchez (MEX, Yamaha), -1 lap(s); 9. Erick Nungaray (MEX, Suzuki), -2 lap(s); 10. Javier Mejia (MEX, Yamaha), -2 lap(s); 11. Ruben Alanis (MEX, KTM), -12 lap(s); Quotes from the qualifying winners: MX1 qualifying winner Rodolfo Fernández: "I'm very happy to be here and be able to take part in this race. In Guatemala we don't have this track layout but I usually go to the States to take part in the Nationals, so there they have big jumps and I'm used to them, and I've also taken part in a couple of Motocross of Nations for Guatemala. From what I've heard the riders did not want to race because of the track conditions were not good, my opinion is that the track was ok to race and this is why I lined up. The organization builds the track safe and I thought that the track was in perfect conditions to be honest." MX2 qualifying race Michael Leib: "I can understand a little more the decision of the riders but at the same time the track was not absolutely wrong. I didn't race really hard today but I have a good pick up tomorrow, so I hope to be on the podium as I did in Fermo." Two Time FIM Motocross World Champion and member of the Mexican Grand Prix Organizing Committee Sebastien Tortelli : "The riders took a decision not to race as a group, so it was their choice. I think the track was not as bad as they were saying. We are all professionals and I think that was not an entire professional choice, we've been working really hard to organize this GP and it is one of the best tracks in Mexico in these days. In the end it's a question of communication, if they don't want to race I can understand, but we need to find a solution, but the solution that happened today I don't think it was the best one. We'll do our best for tomorrow, as we have more material coming in to make it better. I'm also surprised because yesterday everybody when they saw the track they liked it, and then they came to me today saying that the lay out was not good, so that's a big change in only one day."

For the first time in the history, Mexico will host one Grand Prix of the FIM Motocross World Championship. The track is located in Guadalajara, Jalisco, at about 1600m on the sea level and high temperatures are assured for the whole weekend.

All the teams are already in Guadalajara and the bikes and all the material transported from Europe were already at the track on Wednesday, so everything is ready at the Nicolas España's track to host the fourth Grand Prix of the FIM Motocross World Championship.

MX1
Red Bull KTM Factory Racing's Cairoli is landing in Mexico being the MX1 championship leader with seventeen points advantage over Paulin. Cairoli admitted in Fermo that he is very excited to attend the Grand Prix of Mexico, as he loves visiting new countries and come across different cultures.

The runner up of the championship is the rookie Paulin, who has been having an outstanding beginning of the season. Paulin is seventeen points behind Cairoli, so he can easily cut the distance here in Mexico if he does a good performance in the intermediate ground track of Guadalajara.

CP377 Monster Energy Kawasaki Pro Circuit's Pourcel will race in Mexico after having obtained his maiden MX1 Grand Prix victory two weeks ago in Fermo. Pourcel is now third in the championship, but he is just ten points away from Paulin, and he has been one of the most consistent MX1 riders in the last two Grand Prix.

The fourth position in the MX1 class is for Belgian Desalle, who has not had the results he was expecting before the season started. The Rockstar Energy Suzuki World rider was on the third step of the podium in Fermo, so he might be able to conquer the podium this weekend in Guadalajara.

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing's De Dycker is completing the top five of the MX1 class and even if has not been on the podium in the previous three Grand Prix, he has been fighting for the top positions in all the races. He is only eleven points away from third classified Paulin, so he might enter the top three this weekend if he does a good performance.

Strijbos and Boog are sixth and seventh respectively and Bobryshev, who is almost fully recovered from the injury he suffered in Valkenswaard, is eighth in the championship tight in points with Philippaerts.

Frossard, who injured his right knee in the GP of Bulgaria, missed the GP of Italy, but he has been able to rest and he has now recovered some movement on his knee. The French rider has explained that he might be able to do a good performance this weekend in Mexico.

Home rider Martin García is the Mexican rider to follow in the MX1 class, as he is two times National Champion and he is now leading the national championship.

MX2
Red Bull KTM Factory Racing's Herlings is the red plate holder in the MX2 class and he is going to take part in the GP of Mexico with thirty points advantage over the second classified Van Horebeek. Herlings has been on the podium in the three previous GP, so the Dutch rider is leading comfortably the series and he faces the Mexican GP with confidence and determination to increase the difference with his pursuers.

After the Grand Prix of Italy, Van Horebeek became the runner up of the MX2 class with five points advantage over Searle. The Belgian rider is having a very consistent beginning of the season and he is determined to conquer the podium this weekend in Guadalajara.

Team Floride Monster Energy Kawasaki Pro Circuit's Searle dropped down one position in the point standings and he is now third due to his DNF in the first moto of the Italian GP. Searle is looking forward to racing this weekend in Mexico to recover some important points and get closer to the leader of the series.

Fourth in the MX2 class is his teammate Roelants, who also dropped one position in the point standings after Fermo, as he got one DNF's in the first race in Italy and he could not take part in the second heat because he received a big concussion in his head in the first moto. Roelants has travelled to Mexico and he is ready to take part in the GP this weekend and try to be podium again.

Honda Gariboldi Esta's Anstie is completing the top five of the MX2 class and he is very excited to take part in the Mexican GP and improve his position in the point standings. The British rider has been very consistent so far and he is now fighting to be on the podium.

Tixier and Ferrandis are sixth and seventh respectively and they are followed by Nicholls and Kullas. Leib, who was on the podium in the Italian Grand Prix, will be also attending the Mexican round and he is looking forward to being back racing with the top MX2 riders.

Monster Energy Yamaha will head to the Grand Prix of Mexico this weekend with the Rinaldi division of the squad fully fit and ready for the first FIM Motocross World Championship event to hit Guadalajara and the Nico España circuit.

Steven Frossard has felt a major improvement in his right knee since his anterior cruciate ligament surgery and unfortunate attempt to enter the motos at Fermo for the Grand Prix of Italy two weeks ago. The 2011 MX1-GP runner-up has more movement in the joint and has been bicycling and engaging in further exercise to be able to be more competitive on his YZ450FM for both the Mexican and Brazilian successive events in the next fortnight. The Frenchman will be able to line-up with David Philippaerts – who saw a strong fourth position in the first moto of his home meeting at Fermo taken away after being hit by another rider – and attack this South American segment of the FIM calendar.

Philippaerts in particular will have fond memories of the trip to Brazil as twelve months ago the former world champion celebrated his last victory to-date at the Indaiatuba circuit (host of the '11 incarnation of the Brazilian meet). MX2-GP racer Christophe Charlier will also be in better shape having made his Grand Prix bow on the YZ250FM in Italy (and taking a decent 6th overall) for what was the former European Champion's first FIM World Championship appearance this year since recovering from a broken foot.

In the Steve Dixon faction of Monster Energy Yamaha Shaun Simpson has travelled to Mexico and the ex-British Champion - who has made a solid and consistent start to the season with three top ten results on the YZ450FM – will share paddock space again with exciting American Michael Leib.

Leib was initially drafted into the squad to replace the injured Zach Osborne for races in Bulgaria and Italy but the twenty year old's excellent performance and potential in leading the Grand Prix at Fermo and giving the YZ250F its first '12 GP podium trophy with second place overall has led to an extension of his agreement to be a Yamaha representative. The Californian is expected to suit-up at Guadalajara for the race that will be run in hot temperatures and at an altitude of five thousand metres above sea level and then fly to Brazil and the Beto Carrero facility the following week.

"I'm super-happy to have this shot with such a professional team surrounded by great people," he enthused. "I'm looking forward to this weekend and the Mexican GP and I'm excited to see what happens next. I had a great time in Bulgaria and Italy and I'm looking forward for more to come. I can't thank Steve, Yamaha and Monster Energy enough for supporting me and giving me this chance."

Dixon's other MX2-GP replacement from recent weeks, Mel Pocock, celebrated victory at Lyng in the third round of the Maxxis British Championship last weekend and continues to front the competitive eight round series. The twenty year old impressed in his three Grand Prix outings and is now expected to be a strong challenger for the European EMX250 crown with the six-meeting calendar getting under way when the MX1 and MX2 paddock arrives back in Europe for the Grand Prix of France at the St Jean D'Angely circuit on June 3rd. At that same meeting Arnaud Tonus is hopeful of throwing his leg over the number '7' YZ250F for the first time at a 2012 GP since surgery on his shoulder and wrist due to a pre-season race crash in March.

Red Bull KTM's Ryan Dungey, of Belle Plaine, Minn., won his fourth Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, race tonight in front of a sold-out crowd of 39,509 at Sam Boyd Stadium. After leading wire-to-wire, GEICO Honda's Justin Barcia, of Ochlocknee, Ga., won the final stop of the Eastern Regional Supercross Lites Class Championship. Barcia's teammate Eli Tomac, of Cortez, Colo., also led all 15 laps of the Western Regional Supercross Lites Class Main Event, winning his fifth race of the season. MotoConcepts' Mike Alessi, of Hilliard, Fla., captured the Nuclear Cowboyz® Holeshot Award to start the Supercross Class Main Event. Dungey didn't wait long to make his move on Alessi to take the lead on Lap 1. Yoshimura Suzuki's Brett Metcalfe, of Lake Elsinore, Calif., moved into second place on Lap 2, passing Alessi, and on the following lap, Monster Energy Kawasaki's Jake Weimer, of Rupert, Idaho, found his way into third place. Weimer advanced into second place on Lap 6, while JGRMX/Toyota/Yamaha Davi Millsaps secured third place and set his sights on Weimer. Weimer and Millsaps mixed it up on Lap 7, trading places for second place with Weimer holding the position. Millsaps finally made the pass on Weimer on Lap 10 and rode to a second place finish. Dungey won with an 8 second margin of victory and Team Honda Muscle Milk's Justin Brayton, of Fort Dodge, Iowa, finished third. Millsaps finished second in the season point standings and Dungey finished third. "After the Heat Race, we made a change to the bike that really helped out in the Main Event," said Dungey. "The track was hard-packed tonight and a little tough. I am really happy that I could get this win for the KTM team." Barcia capped off his championship-winning Eastern Regional Supercross Lites Class season by winning the Nuclear Cowboyz Holeshot Award before leading all 15 laps of the Main Event en route to his sixth victory of the season. Barcia clinched the championship earlier this year at the New Orleans stop. Behind Barcia, Red Bull KTM's Ken Roczen, of Murrieta, Calif., assumed the second-place position with Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki's Blake Baggett, of Grand Terrance, Calif., in tow, where they would finish. Following Barcia's win, he made the announcement that he will ride for the Team Honda Muscle Milk squad next year, and the first time he will race for the new team will be at the Monster Energy Cup at Sam Boyd Stadium on October 20. "This is a dream come true, and I am looking forward to racing for Team Honda Muscle Milk," said Barcia. "I am happy to close out the season with a win; the track was difficult for me out there, but I was able to keep it together." Tomac, of Cortez, Colo., opened the Western Regional Supercross Lites Class Main Event by placing his GEICO Honda across the Nuclear Cowboyz Holeshot line with Rockstar Energy Racing Suzuki's Martin Davalos, of Cairo, Ga., and his teammate Jason Anderson, of Edgewood, N.M., following in second and third, respectively. On Lap 3, Anderson moved into third place, passing Davalos, but moments later made a mistake that allowed Davalos to take back second place and Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki's Dean Wilson to move into third. Wilson passed Davalos on Lap 5 to take over the number-two position. GIECO Honda's Wil Hahn, of Decatur, Texas moved around Davalos on Lap 11. Wilson finished second and Hahn finished third. "This shows that GEICO Honda has done a great job this year with us winning both Supercross Lites Class titles and Wil [Hahn] finishing third tonight," said Tomac. The dominant performance by the GEICO Honda team set the stage for the 10 lap Dave Coombs Sr. East/West Shootout. Once again, Barcia won the Nuclear Cowboyz Holeshot Award, and he was trailed by Davalos and Tomac. On Lap 3 Davalos took advantage of a mistake by Barcia to move into the lead. Two laps later, both Barcia and Tomac moved around Davalos. Barcia was able to hold off the hard charging Tomac for the win. Tomac finished second and Davalos was third. Team Honda Muscle Milk's Justin Brayton won the second annual Brett Michaels Rock Hard-Ride Hard Award and received a $10,000 bonus. Supercross Class Results: Las Vegas
Ryan Dungey, Belle Plaine, Minn., KTM
Davi Millsaps, Murrieta, Calif., Yamaha
Justin Brayton, Fort Dodge, Iowa, Honda
Jake Weimer, Rupert, Idaho, Kawasaki
Joshua Grant, Corona, Calif., Kawasaki
Nico Izzi, Menifee, Calif., Yamaha
Mike Alessi, Hilliard, Fla., Suzuki
Weston Peick, Wildomar, Calif., Yamaha
Andrew Short, Smithville, Texas, Honda
Nick Wey, DeWitt, Mich., Kawasaki

Supercross Class Season Standings
Ryan Villopoto, Poulsbo, Wash., Kawasaki, 323
Davi Millsaps, Murrieta, Calif., Yamaha, 266
Ryan Dungey, Belle Plaine, Minn., KTM, 257
Justin Brayton, Fort Dodge, Iowa, Honda, 257
Jake Weimer, Rupert, Idaho, Kawasaki, 229
Mike Alessi, Hilliard, Fla., Suzuki, 206
James Stewart, Haines City, Fla., Yamaha, 178
Brett Metcalfe, Lake Elsinore, Calif., Suzuki, 177
Broc Tickle, Holly, Mich., Kawasaki, 171
Kevin Windham, Centreville, Miss., Honda, 166

Western Regional Supercross Lites Class Results: Las Vegas
Eli Tomac, Cortez, Colo., Honda
Dean Wilson, Menifee, Calif., Kawasaki
Wil Hahn, Decatur, Texas, Honda
Martin Davalos, Cairo, Georgia, Suzuki
Jason Anderson, Edgewood, N.M., Suzuki
Marvin Musquin, Murrieta, Calif., KTM
Matt Moss, Murrieta, Calif., KTM
Ryan Sipes, Ekron, Ky., Yamaha
Scott Champion, Sun City, Calif., Honda
Landen Powell, South Jordan, UT, Honda

Western Regional Supercross Lites Class Season Standings
Eli Tomac, Cortez, Colo., Honda, 184
Dean Wilson, Menifee, Calif., Kawasaki, 154
Marvin Musquin, Murrieta, Calif., KTM, 142
Cole Seely, Murrieta, Calif., Honda, 119
Jason Anderson, Edgewood, N.M., Suzuki, 111
Matt Moss, Murrieta, Calif., KTM, 106
Ryan Sipes, Ekron, Ky., Yamaha, 96
Martin Davalos, Cairo, Georgia, Suzuki, 89
Billy Laninovich, Riverside, Calif., Honda, 85
Nico Izzi, Menifee, Calif., Yamaha, 78

Eastern Regional Supercross Lites Class Results: Las Vegas
Justin Barcia, Ochlocknee, Ga., Honda
Ken Roczen, Murrieta, Calif., KTM
Blake Baggett, Grand Terrace, Calif., Kawasaki
Malcolm Stewart, Haines City, Fla., KTM
Blake Wharton, Pilot Point, Texas, Suzuki
Kyle Cunningham, Aledo, Texas, Yamaha
Hunter Hewitt, Corona, Calif., Suzuki
Jake Canada, Sun City, Calif., Honda
Matthew Lemoine, Collinsville, Texas, Kawasaki
Kyle Peters, Greensboro, NC, Yamaha

Eastern Regional Supercross Lites Class Season Standings
Justin Barcia, Ochlocknee, Ga., Honda – 210
Ken Roczen, Murrieta, Calif., KTM – 165
Blake Wharton, Pilot Point, Texas, Suzuki – 158
Blake Baggett, Grand Terrace, Calif., Kawasaki – 148
Darryn Durham, Butler, Pa., Kawasaki – 143
Jake Canada, Sun City, Calif., Honda – 131
Justin Bogle, Cushing, Okla., Honda – 117
Kyle Cunningham, Aledo, Texas, Yamaha – 85
Matthew Lemoine, Collinsville, Texas, Kawasaki – 78
Alex Martin, Millville, Minn., Honda – 77

Following a season of high drama, heartbreaking injuries, and a historic run to the championship, the 2012 Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, season is set to come to an exciting conclusion on Saturday night as a capacity crowd inside Las Vegas' Sam Boyd Stadium will welcome the world's best riders into action for one final time.

Last weekend, Red Bull KTM's Ryan Dungey returned to the top step of the podium inside Salt Lake City's Rice-Eccles Stadium, capturing his third victory of the year just two weeks after returning to competition from a broken collar bone. The 2010 Monster Energy Supercross Champion had to dig deep for the win, overcoming an early fall in an incident with Monster Energy Kawasaki's Jake Weimer to fight his way back from a multiple-second deficit and climb from third to first over the final five laps of the main event.

Dungey's triumph came at the expense of Toyota/Yamaha/JGRMX's Davi Millsaps, who took control of the Supercross Class nearly the entire evening. Following an impressive heat race win, Millsaps took the holeshot in the main event and pulled away from the field. It looked as though the Yamaha rider, who has moved from 11th to second in the championship over the second half of the season, was in line for his first victory since 2010, but a couple bobbles allowed Dungey to close the gap and make the winning pass on Lap 18. While the runner-up finish was a hard finish to swallow for Millsaps, he enters Las Vegas as the hottest rider in Monster Energy Supercross.

While the championship has already been decided in the Supercross Class, Millsaps and Dungey are giving the fans something to be excited about. The Salt Lake City race was one of the best of the season and bodes well for the thousands who will be in attendance on Saturday night. Moreover, both Weimer and Team Honda Muscle Milk's Justin Brayton are in search of their inaugural victories in the class and after amassing the best championship performances of their respective careers, each rider has just one more opportunity to cap off their campaigns with a win.

In the Supercross Class standings, only 12 points separate Millsaps in second to Dungey in fourth, with Brayton serving as the middle man. Bragging rights are on the line heading into Vegas and all three of these riders have their own reasons to take the final checkered flag of the season.

Four months and 16 weeks of grueling competition have come down to this. Not a single seat inside Sam Boyd Stadium will be empty on Saturday night as the world's most elite riders bring the 2012 Monster Energy Supercross season to a close.

Season Standings

1.

The 17000 people present in Fermo were able to enjoy incredible racing in both MX1 and MX2 classes. Christophe Pourcel obtained his maiden MX1 victory of the season, whereas Jeffrey Herlings obtained his second GP victory this weekend in Fermo.

Although Antonio Cairoli was on the second step of the podium, his second heat victory made the crowd go crazy. Third overall was Clement Desalle and Gautier Paulin missed the podium for just one point due to his sixth position in the second heat.

Steven Frossard decided to take part in the first heat, but the pain on his knee was so intense that he decided not to take any risks and decided to call it a day.

Jeffrey Herlings went 1-1 in Fermo and he is now leading the MX2 championship with 30 points advantage. Michael Leib had a superb weekend and was on the second step of the podium, while Jeremy Van Horebeek completed the top three.

The negative part of the day was the two DNF's of Tommy Searle and Joel Roelants in the first heats; Searle was able to take part in the second heat and finished second, but Roelants suffered a heavy concussion in the first heat and was not able to race the second one.

MX1
CP377 Monster Energy Kawasaki Pro Circuit's Christophe Pourcel obtained his maiden GP victory of the season and he is now third in the point standings 27 points behind Cairoli. In the first heat, Pourcel and Paulin exchanged the lead in several occasions. Pourcel even stalled the bike in the last lap, but he managed to start the bike again quickly, catch Paulin and cross the finish line in the first position. In the second heat, he succeeded in finishing second even being bleeding from his nose during the last laps after a rock had hit his face.

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing's Cairoli was only third in the first heat, but he took the holeshot in the second one and succeeded in keeping the lead until the chequered flag. After not having the best qualifying race yesterday, Cairoli was determined to do well today and hand a victory to his home crowd that had been cheering for him until the end. Cairoli is still leading the MX1 point standings with 17 points advantage over Paulin.

The third step of the podium was for Rockstar Energy Suzuki World's Desalle thanks to his 4-3 result. However, the Belgian admitted that he is not fully satisfied with performance today and he needs to keep on working to try to conquer the first step of the podium in the upcoming Grand Prix.

Kawasaki Racing Team's Paulin had an incredible first race and he actually missed the victory because he made a mistake in the last lap and Pourcel overtook him. In the second heat, Paulin crashed in the first corner and had to fight from the back of the pack to end sixth, which made him finish fourth overall.

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing's De Dycker obtained another solid result in Fermo and completed the top five of the Italian Grand Prix. De Dycker had a bad start in the first heat and started from an initial twelfth position to finish seventh. However, in the second heat the Belgian started third and rode a consistent moto until the end.

Russian Bobryshev is much better from his thumb injury and he succeeded in finishing sixth overall in a track where he does not really feel comfortable. Strijbos, who finished tenth in the first heat after starting from an initial 16th position, was seventh in the second one and obtained a final seventh place.

Philippaerts was ninth and once again he was touched by bad luck; five minutes before the end of the first heat, the Italian made a mistake while he was riding fourth and he went down the floor. He managed to finish ninth but he hit his face heavily and had some vision problems in one of his eyes. In the second moto he finished eighth and obtained an overall eighth position.

Boog was ninth and Leok completed the top ten.

MX1 Overall top ten: 1. Christophe Pourcel (FRA, Kawasaki), 47 points; 2. Antonio Cairoli (ITA, KTM), 45 p.; 3. Clement Desalle (BEL, Suzuki), 38 p.; 4. Gautier Paulin (FRA, Kawasaki), 37 p.; 5. Ken de Dycker (BEL, KTM), 32 p.; 6. Evgeny Bobryshev (RUS, Honda), 31 p.; 7. Kevin Strijbos (BEL, KTM), 25 p.; 8. David Philippaerts (ITA, Yamaha), 25 p.; 9. Xavier Boog (FRA, Kawasaki), 23 p.; 10. Tanel Leok (EST, Suzuki), 20 p.

MX1 Championship top ten: 1. Antonio Cairoli (ITA, KTM), 133 points; 2. Gautier Paulin (FRA, Kawasaki), 116 p.; 3. Christophe Pourcel (FRA, Kawasaki), 106 p.; 4. Clement Desalle (BEL, Suzuki), 105 p.; 5. Ken de Dycker (BEL, KTM), 95 p.; 6. Kevin Strijbos (BEL, KTM), 76 p.; 7. Xavier Boog (FRA, Kawasaki), 72 p.; 8. Evgeny Bobryshev (RUS, Honda), 69 p.; 9. David Philippaerts (ITA, Yamaha), 69 p.; 10. Tanel Leok (EST, Suzuki), 62 p.

MX1 Manufacturers: 1. KTM, 133 points; 2. Kawasaki, 129 p.; 3. Suzuki, 115 p.; 4. Yamaha, 94 p.; 5. Honda, 89 p.; 6. TM, 12 p.

MX2
Red Bull KTM Factory Racing's Herlings won both heats but it was not an easy victory for the Dutch rider. In the first heat, he was able to keep the lead from the beginning to the finish line, but by the end of the heat Herlings started feeling that his bike was having some problems. In the second moto, Herlings and Searle's wheels touched and the Dutch lost the front break but he managed to go from eleventh to first.

The second overall position was for Monster Energy Yamaha's Leib on his second appearance in the FIM Motocross World Championship this season. The American did an incredible first race moving from 15th to third and in the second moto he led the race until the last three laps, where he was overtaken by Herlings and Searle. Leib is very grateful towards Monster Energy Yamaha for having given him such opportunity and he admitted that his near future is still uncertain at the moment.
Red Bull KTM Factory Racing's Van Horebeek obtained his first podium finish of the season after being second and fourth in today's races. In the first heat, the Belgian was riding comfortably in the second position when he suffered a heavy crash, but he managed to recover himself quickly and finished the race second. Van Horebeek admitted that he struggled a lot in the second moto to finish fourth, as he was suffering a heavy headache caused from the crash in the first moto. The Belgian is now second in the point standings.

His teammate Tixier was fifth overall today in Fermo and he has moved up to the sixth position in championship and he is now only two points behind Anstie. Tixier had some difficulties in the first race and he was only able to finish seventh, but in the second one he obtained a solid fifth place.

KTM Diga Racing's Butrón completed the top five of the Italian Championship thanks to his 9-7 result. The Spanish rider had two really good starts and in the second moto he even led the race during the first meters. Butrón has been riding in the front in Sevlievo and this weekend in Fermo during the first laps, but he is missing a little bit of consistency to fight for the podium finish.

Charlier obtained a solid overall sixth position in his first appearance in the FIM Motocross World Championship after his foot injury and Ferrandis finished seventh overall. The French young rider, who was the runner up of the 2011 UEM EMX2 championship, had a really good start in the first heat and finished fifth, but in the second one he was involved in a crashed at the start and he could only cross the finish line in the 12th position.

Anstie was eighth and Searle and Lupino completed the top ten.

It was a disappointing weekend for Searle, especially after having won the qualifying race yesterday and having so high expectations for this weekend. In the first heat he crashed on the opening lap and his bike was so damaged that he had to pull out and in the second one, Searle's and Herlings' bikes touched at the start and he had to fight from almost the last position up to the second final place.

MX2 Overall top ten: 1. Jeffrey Herlings (NED, KTM), 50 points; 2. Michael Leib (USA, Yamaha), 40 p.; 3. Jeremy van Horebeek (BEL, KTM), 40 p.; 4. Jordi Tixier (FRA, KTM), 30 p.; 5. Jose Butron (ESP, KTM), 26 p.; 6. Christophe Charlier (FRA, Yamaha), 25 p.; 7. Dylan Ferrandis (FRA, Kawasaki), 25 p.; 8. Max Anstie (GBR, Honda), 23 p.; 9. Tommy Searle (GBR, Kawasaki), 22 p.; 10. Alessandro Lupino (ITA, Husqvarna), 22 p.

MX2 Championship top ten: 1. Jeffrey Herlings (NED, KTM), 144 points; 2. Jeremy van Horebeek (BEL, KTM), 114 p.; 3.

The NIGHT of the JUMPS freestyle artists returned to Munich for a second consecutive year. Against the backdrop of a sold-out Olympic Hall, the twelve FMX riders put on a stunning display of extreme sport, showcasing the most advanced tricks that are possible on two motorised wheels.

Carrying the flag for Germany were Kai Haase (Berlin), Lukas Weis (Munich) and Hannes Ackermann (Thuringia), who put in a creditable performance in the qualifying round, hammering the requisite eight jumps into the dirt in the prescribed 80-second run. Only Hannes Ackermann made it through, however. He qualified sixth as the beneficiary of misfortune for a couple of the favourites: Maikel Melero, who has only just recovered from his last injury, crashed on his final jump, and Libor Podmol seemed to have a temporary loss of form. So the line-up for the final was once again dominated by the two world championship contenders Remi Bizouard and Javier Villegas. The other three hopefuls were Martin Koren (CZE), David Rinaldo (FRA) and Brice Izzo (FRA).

Because of the two mobile landing ramps in the Olympic Hall, there was no MAXXIS Highest Air contest but instead the MAXXIS Race & Style contest and a whip contest. The 9,000 Bavarians in the audience cheered their local hero Lukas Weis on to victory in both competitions.

Hannes Ackermann was first out of the blocks in the final and impressed with Cliffhanger Flip and Indy to Superflip. Just like his one and only previous appearance in the final round, however, a faulty jump seemed to have condemned him to sixth place. But as Martin Koren made multiple errors in his final run, the German rider was pleasantly surprised to find himself elevated to a relatively lofty fifth, his best NIGHT of the JUMPS result to date.

Which of course meant that the final was a showdown between Chile and France, i.e. Javier Villegas against the Gallic triumvirate of Brice Izzo, David Rinaldo and Remi Bizouard. The South American, outnumbered, put up a valiant struggle, seeing off the challenge of Brice Izzo (Heelclicker Underflip et al) and David Rinaldo (Superman Seatgrab Flip et al) with his own Tsunami Flip, Superman Seatgrab Backflip Indy, Suicide Lazyflip and special signature tricks. But Remi Bizouard once again outclassed the 2011 FMX world champion with Ruler Flip, Cliffhanger Flip, 360 and Hart Attack Flip to take his fourth victory of the 2012 season.

The Frenchman continues to head the NIGHT of the JUMPS World Championship standings. He has now racked up 421 points and taken a commanding 125-point lead over second-placed Libor Podmol (316 points). The highest-ranked German, Hannes Ackermann, is in ninth place (174 points).

The next NIGHT of the JUMPS takes place on 12th May in the SAP Arena in Mannheim when the freestyle elite will be trying to boost their points tally in the UEM Freestyle MX European Championship.

Meanwhile, Munich-based fans who have already purchased a 2013 calendar can ink in the weekend of 26th/27th April for their next fix of high-octane entertainment. And as the above dates suggest, NIGHT of the JUMPS will be staging a double bill in the Bavarian capital. Tickets have already gone on sale.

Results NIGHT of the JUMPs – Final

1. Remi Bizouard FRA FFM Honda 419 Points
2. Javier Villegas CHL FMC Yamaha 405
3.

SALT LAKE CITY (April 28, 2012) – Red Bull KTM's Ryan Dungey of Belle Plaine, Minn., captured the third Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, win of the season tonight at Rice-Eccles Stadium in front of 40,548 fans. En route to winning his fourth Main Event of the year, GEICO Honda's Eli Tomac clinched the first Western Regional Supercross Lites Class Championship of his career.

Toyota/Yamaha/JGRMX's Davi Millsaps started perfectly, winning the Nuclear Cowboyz® Holeshot Award with Dungey on his back wheel to start the Supercross Class Main Event. With the field sorting itself out through turn 1, Monster Energy Kawasaki's Jake Weimer, of Rupert, Idaho, moved into second place.

Dungey settled into second place on Lap 8, passing Weimer, but on the same lap, Weimer answered back, knocking Dungey to the ground as he made the pass. Dungey regrouped and made a charge on Weimer before passing him with just a few laps to go. After capitalizing on a mistake made by Millsaps near the end of Lap 18, Dungey moved into the lead and rode to the win. Millsaps finished second and Weimer finished third.

"It was great racing out there tonight, and I really dug deep," said Dungey. "I didn't see [the pass] coming and that was my fault. My front wheel got a barrier in the corner and I went down. My focus was to run him down, and I did. I had a tough part of the middle of the season, and I knew I had the speed tonight. I just needed to be patient."

Millsaps' quest to hold down the number-two position in Supercross Class point standings started in his Heat Race when he posted the fastest time of 6:19 on his way to victory in the eight-lap race. He now has a seven-point lead over Team Honda Muscle Milk's Justin Brayton.

Rockstar Energy Racing Suzuki's Jason Anderson, of Edgewood, N.M., won the Nuclear Cowboyz Holeshot Award with his teammate Martin Davalos, of Cairo, Ga., to start the Western Regional Supercross Lites Class. On the opening lap, Red Bull KTM's Marvin Musquin, of Murrieta, Calif., moved into second, while Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki's Dean Wilson, of Menifee, Calif., secured third place.

Wilson quickly passed Musquin while Tomac moved into third place. Tomac stalked Wilson for several laps before making the pass for second on Lap 8. It didn't take long for Tomac to cut into Anderson's lead and make the race-winning pass on lap 10. A dramatic turn of events happened on Lap 12 when Wilson, who came into tonight's race four points behind Wilson, suffered a huge crash that forced him to withdraw from the race. As a result, Tomac scored enough points to clinch the championship. Anderson and Davalos earned career-best results, finishing second and third, respectively.

"It was huge to close out the night with a race win and a championship," said Tomac. "That was some good racing out there. Off the gate I got bumped around and was able to slowly pick guys off and try to pace. I did my best not to do anything stupid. That was the best way to do it."

The final race of the 2012 Monster Energy Supercross Championship takes place next Saturday, May 5 at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas.

Supercross Class Results: Salt Lake City

1.Ryan Dungey, Belle Plaine, Minn., KTM
2.Davi Millsaps, Murrieta, Calif., Yamaha
3.Jake Weimer, Rupert, Idaho, Kawasaki
4.Justin Brayton, Fort Dodge, Iowa, Honda
5.Mike Alessi, Hilliard, Fla., Suzuki
6.Broc Tickle, Holly, Mich., Kawasaki
7.Andrew Short, Smithville, Texas, Honda
8.Joshua Grant, Smithville, Texas, Kawasaki
9.Robert Kiniry, Holland Patent, N.Y., Yamaha
10.Tyler Bowers, Danville, Ken., Kawasaki

Supercross Class Season Standings

1.Ryan Villopoto, Poulsbo, Wash., Kawasaki, 323
2.Davi Millsaps, Murrieta, Calif., Yamaha, 244
3.Justin Brayton, Fort Dodge, Iowa, Honda, 237
4.Ryan Dungey, Belle Plaine, Minn., KTM, 232
5.Jake Weimer, Rupert, Idaho, Kawasaki, 211
6.Mike Alessi, Hilliard, Fla., Suzuki, 192
7.James Stewart, Haines City, Fla., Yamaha, 178
8.Brett Metcalfe, Lake Elsinore, Calif., Suzuki, 174
9.Kevin Windham, Centreville, Miss., Honda, 166
10.Broc Tickle, Holly, Mich., Kawasaki, 161

Western Regional Supercross Lites Class Results: Salt Lake City

1.Eli Tomac, Cortez, Colo., Honda
2.Jason Anderson, Edgewood, N.M., Suzuki
3.Martin Davalos, Cairo, Ga, Suzuki
4.Wil Hahn, Decatur, Texas, Honda
5.Marvin Musquin, Murrieta, Calif., KTM
6.Matt Moss, Murrieta, Calif., KTM
7.Billy Laninovich, Riverside, Calif., Honda
8.Topher Ingalls, San Luis Obispo, Calif., Honda
9.Vince Friese, Cape Girardeau, M.O., Honda
10.Scott Champion, Sun City, Calif., Honda

Western Regional Supercross Lites Class Season Standings

1.Eli Tomac, Cortez, Colo., Honda, 159
2.Dean Wilson, Menifee, Calif., Kawasaki, 132
3.Marvin Musquin, Murrieta, Calif., KTM, 127
4.Cole Seely, Murrieta, Calif., Honda, 119
5.Jason Anderson, Edgewood, N.M., Suzuki, 95
6.Matt Moss, Murrieta, Calif., KTM, 92
7.Billy Laninovich, Riverside, Calif., Honda, 84
8.Ryan Sipes, Ekron, Kent., Yamaha, 83
9.Nico Izzi, Menifee, Calif., Yamaha, 78
10.Travis Baker, Temecula, Calif., Honda, 75

The first supercross race held at Rice-Eccles Stadium took place in 2011 where 42,135 packed the home of the 2002 Olympic Opening and Closing Ceremonies to watch Ricky Carmichael race to victory.

FERMO (Italy) – The MX1 and MX2 qualifying races, as well as race one of the UEM EMX125, took place today in Fermo under a blue sky and with more than 20 degrees. Gautier Paulin and Tommy Searle dominated the MX1 and MX2 qualifying races respectively, while Tim Gajser obtained a comfortable victory in the UEM EMX125.

The MX1 qualifying race was disputed between Gautier Paulin and Christophe Pourcel, who exchanged the lead during the whole heat, but it was the first one who obtained the final victory. Third was Ken De Dycker and Bobryshev and Sebastien Pourcel completed the top five. Clement Desalle and Antonio Cairoli made several mistakes during the qualifying race and they finished eighth and thirteenth respectively.

Steven Frossard took part in the qualifying race but he crashed and had to stop in the pitlane because he could not stand the pain. Tomorrow he will try to take part in the warm-up, but his presence in the main races is still uncertain. Tommy Searle commanded the MX2 qualifying race almost since the beginning, and his teammate Joel Roelants succeeded in being second, followed by red plate holder Jeffrey Herlings.

MX1

Kawasaki Racing Team's Paulin won the MX1 qualifying race in Fermo, but he had to fight hard with his compatriot Christophe Pourcel to be the first one to cross the finish line. Both riders exchanged the lead in several occasions and they fought for the victory until the end.

Christophe Pourcel started from the fifth position, but he quickly moved up to second and gave chase to the leader Paulin. His lap times were better than Paulin's, so he moved up to the first position and he pulled away. However, Paulin caught Pourcel in the last minutes of the qualifying race, and the CP377 Monster Energy Kawasaki Pro Circuit rider had to settle down with the second position.

Once again Red Bull KTM Factory Racing's De Dycker made a solid moto and he rode third from beginning to end. The Belgian is obtaining really good results since he is riding for KTM and yesterday Claudio De Carli announced that De Dycker will stay in the MX1 team until the end of the season.

Honda World Motocross' Bobryshev finished fourth in today's qualifying heat, which is a sign that his thumb injury is much better. The Russian will have a good starting position tomorrow, so he might be able to start fighting for the top three places if the pain lets him fight during the 40 minutes and two laps of both heats.

Sebastien Pourcel did a very consistent moto, maintaining the initial fifth position until the end. The CP377 Monster Energy Kawasaki Pro Circuit rider is feeling better and better every Grand Prix and a proof of that is his top five result in today's qualifying race. Home rider Philippaerts finished sixth and Boog was seventh.

Desalle did a really good start and he rode second during the first two laps. However, the Belgian made a mistake, went out the track and he dropped down to the fourteenth position. In the end, Desalle crossed the finish line eighth.

Cairoli admitted that he has made the worst qualifying race so far, after making two mistakes during the moto and being only able to finish thirteenth. However, Cairoli is feeling good and he hopes to be on the podium tomorrow in front of his crowd.

MX1 Qualifying Race top ten: 1. Gautier Paulin (FRA, Kawasaki), 25:09.523; ; 2. Christophe Pourcel (FRA, Kawasaki), +0:01.559; 3. Ken de Dycker (BEL, KTM), +0:33.611; 4. Evgeny Bobryshev (RUS, Honda), +0:38.930; 5. Sebastien Pourcel (FRA, Kawasaki), +0:44.173; 6. David Philippaerts (ITA, Yamaha), +0:48.327; 7. Xavier Boog (FRA, Kawasaki), +0:52.711; 8. Clement Desalle (BEL, Suzuki), +0:57.856; 9. Cedric Soubeyras (FRA, Honda), +1:01.781; 10. Shaun Simpson (GBR, Yamaha), +1:02.912;

MX2

Team Floride Monster Energy Kawasaki Pro Circuit's Searle started from an initial third position and he quickly moved up to second taking advantage of Van Horebeek's mistake. Searle's lap times were much better than the ones of Nichols, who was leading the race, so the Kawasaki rider took the lead easily and commanded the qualifying heat until the end.

His teammate Roelants did not have a really good start and had to fight hard from the eighth position to finish second. This result gives the Team Floride Monster Energy Kawasaki Pro Circuit rider another good chance to pick a good starting gate tomorrow to fight once more for the podium finish or even for the overall victory.

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing's Herlings finished third in the qualifying heat, but he had to fight really hard from an initial thirteenth position. Herlings proved that he has the speed to do well tomorrow, so if he has a good start, he might be able to obtain the overall victory.

Van Horebeek did one of the best starts of the season so far and he crossed the first corner in the third position, he then moved up to second, but he made a mistake and he went down to the sixth place. The Red Bull KTM Factory rider did not give up and he managed to cross the finish line fourth.

Nestaan JM Racing KTM's Nicholls took the holeshot one more time, but he was not able to keep the lead more than three laps. Nicholls was overtaken by his compatriot Searle during the third lap and later one it was Roelants, Herlings and finally Van Horebeek who managed to overtake the Nestaan JM Racing KTM rider, who finished fifth.

Charlier obtained a solid sixth position on his debut in the 2012 season after his foot injury and Leib and Lupino followed the French rider. Ferrandis finished ninth and Tonkov completed the top ten. Teillet was back on the bike for the qualifying race after his crash in Sevlievo, but he could not finish the heat, so his presence tomorrow in the main races is still uncertain.

MX2 Qualifying Race top ten: 1. Tommy Searle (GBR, Kawasaki), 25:35.454; 2. Joel Roelants (BEL, Kawasaki), +0:02.076; 3. Jeffrey Herlings (NED, KTM), +0:03.107; 4. Jeremy van Horebeek (BEL, KTM), +0:25.916; 5. Jake Nicholls (GBR, KTM), +0:28.877; 6. Christophe Charlier (FRA, Yamaha), +0:36.322; 7. Michael Leib (USA, Yamaha), +0:38.572; 8. Alessandro Lupino (ITA, Husqvarna), +0:43.055; 9. Dylan Ferrandis (FRA, Kawasaki), +0:44.703; 10. Alexander Tonkov (RUS, Honda), +0:49.181;

AURORA, Ill. (April 27, 2012) – Only two races remain in the 2012 Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, season and tomorrow night, the world's best riders invade Salt Lake City's Rice-Eccles Stadium for the 16th race of the season.

Following the announcement earlier this week confirming that Monster Energy Kawasaki rider, and 2012 Monster Energy Supercross Champion, Ryan Villopoto will miss the remainder of the season due to injury, Toyota/Yamaha/JGRMX's Davi Millsaps assumes the role of lead rider in the Supercross Class.

Millsaps has been one of the best riders over the second half of the season, highlighted by three podium finishes. Since the seventh race of the season in Arlington, Millsaps has climbed from 11th to second in the Supercross Class standings, three points ahead of Team Honda Muscle Milk's Justin Brayton in third.

As for Villopoto, while he's surely disappointed to have his season cut short, he will set his sights on the Monster Energy Cup in October.

"Everything started out great in Seattle," said Villopoto. "I found some good lines during practice and was able to connect everything during the heat race. In the main event I didn't get the start I needed and had to work from mid-pack. I was trying to pass three racers on the inside of a turn, came in hot, tried to grab some front brake and washed out the front end. I ended up injuring my knee, so unfortunately I won't be able to race the last couple events. I'm pretty disappointed because I trained hard for this season and even though I won the Supercross title, I really wanted to defend my (motocross) championship. I've been through injury before and I know how hard I have to work to get back. My goal is to recover in time to compete in the Monster Energy Cup."

Brayton posted a fourth-place finish in Seattle as the lone rider for the Factory Honda effort. The finish allowed him to gain valuable points on second in the championship standings as he continues his quest for a career-best runner-up finish in the title fight. This weekend, Brayton will set his sights on a first-career victory.

"I'm happy to finish fourth and be able to get some valuable points," said Brayton. "I'm just ready to be in that top position. I want to win. The bike was running great, so I'm ready to go home, continue my training this week and head into Salt Lake City strong."

In his return to action since having surgery to repair a broken collarbone, Red Bull KTM's Ryan Dungey looked strong despite missing five races. The 2010 Monster Energy Supercross Champion took an easy win in his heat race and was riding well in the main event before he went down when trying to pass Brayton for position. Dungey stayed out of trouble throughout the remainder of the race to post a sixth-place finish. He'll look to return to the top step of the podium in Salt Lake City.

When his teammate went down in Seattle, Monster Energy Kawasaki's Jake Weimer stepped up to represent the team well, landing in third place. The former Western Regional Supercross Lites Champion has been close to breaking through for his first win in the Supercross Class this season, and with what he considers to be a home race up next tomorrow night, the Idaho native will be eager to show he's ready to take that next step in front of family and friends.

"I knew it would be tough racing (in) Seattle because the track is always soft and rutted," said Weimer. "Anytime you get on the podium it's a good night, but I feel pretty good about Seattle because I was able to fight through it and come out with a better result than I expected. I'm really looking forward to the race in Salt Lake City. That race is my hometown race since it's the closest race to where I grew up in Idaho."

It was a tough night in Seattle for Yoshimura Suzuki's Brett Metcalfe. The optimistic Australian picked up a fine fifth-place result in his heat race, but following mid-air contact with another rider on the opening lap of the main event, Metcalfe was forced to retire for the evening with a damaged bike.

"It was actually a good day for me," said Metcalfe. "Practice went pretty good and I liked the track. The heat race came around and I got fifth. I put some good laps together and I was feeling good. In the main event, I came through the first corner ok, then I got together with another rider and we collided in mid-air. My bike got smashed up. That was the end of my race and I had to DNF, which was sad because this was the first DNF we've had all season. We'll just come back strong for this weekend at Salt Lake City."

Since he took the first professional win of his career in Seattle back in 2010, Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki's Broc Tickle had high expectations coming into Centurylink Field. After a solid beginning to the evening, Tickle got pinched off and funneled to the back of the pack in the main event, coming around the first turn in 15th. Undeterred, Tickle put together a solid charge and picked off nearly half of the field to finish eighth. He currently sits 10th in the points standings.

"I thought I rode the best I had all season in Seattle," said Tickle. "I rode solid and stayed aggressive all 20 laps and passed half of the pack in the process. You know this has been a crazy season; anything can happen on the track. The top 10 racers in the Supercross Class are riding really strong so it's difficult to break into the top three to get a podium. I just have to keep pushing forward and working hard no matter how tough it gets. I know eventually it will all pay off. I'm going to focus on my starts this week and hopefully I can carry this momentum into Salt Lake City."

In just his second start since returning from injury, L&MC Racing Honda's Andrew Short had the most memorable night of his veteran career in Seattle. Short grabbed the holeshot and despite being pressured early in the race, was able to maintain his lead. He rode a consistent and solid race all the way to the checkered flag, leading every lap en route to his first Supercross Class win.

"This feeling is completely unreal to me, and I don't even know what to say," said Short. "After my heat race, I knew track position off the start was huge, so I really tried to dig deep to grab a good start and maintain it the entire race. I have been close to winning before, but was never able to pull it all together. Now to be able to get this win after coming off an injury is huge. I was really nervous the whole race, so being able to see that checkered flag while being in the lead is unreal. I'm so excited for my team, myself and my family."

TiLUBE/Foremost Kawasaki's Nick Wey continues to improve as he recuperates from injury. Like some of his counterparts, Wey suffered from bad luck in his Seattle heat race and had to go through the LCQ in order to qualify for the main event. Being the veteran that he is, Wey overcame the tough gate pick to finish a solid 10th.

"The track was pretty tough because of all the ruts and I kind of struggled all day," said Wey. "But, I was quite a bit stronger than I was last week. Unfortunately, I had a crash in the heat race and had to go to the LCQ, but I was able to get a top 10 in the main. Hopefully, I'll do better at Salt Lake City this weekend."

Drama reigned in the return of the Western Regional Supercross Lites Championship in Seattle. With only two points separating the top two riders in the championship, expectations were high to see some memorably competition and the riders didn't disappoint.

GEICO Honda's Eli Tomac entered Seattle as the rider chasing the championship lead. In his first race back since recovering from a fractured elbow, Tomac overcame a slow start to the day to put forth a strong ride in the main event. Tomac engaged in a heated physical battle with fellow title contender Dean Wilson, ultimately resulting in contact between the two, but was able to fight through it all to finish third and reclaim possession of the points lead coming into Salt Lake City.

"That was the wildest race of my entire life," said Tomac. "It started a little rough, obviously, with the battle between me and Wilson. We made a few contact passes, but unfortunately there weren't many places to pass on the track. My focus is just to be smart and finish strong the rest of the rounds. I'm here for the championship."

Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki's Wilson received the worse end of the incident with Tomac, falling to the ground and ultimately finishing seventh in a valiant attempt to salvage points. Wilson appeared to suffer from an apparent shoulder injury in Seattle following the crash, but is expected to return and attempt to get back into the top spot in the championship. Currently, he sits just four points behind Tomac.

"I was pretty bummed after Seattle," said Wilson. "Me and Eli (Tomac) were really going at it out there. In the main I was able to get around him pretty quickly on the first lap, then he got me back, and we went back and forth a couple times. It was some pretty aggressive racing, but we're going for a championship and giving it everything we got out there. We were halfway through the race and he came across the track, we got tangled up, and I got the worst of it. I just had to put that behind me and focus on the championship. We only have two rounds left and this is racing so anything can happen."

Troy Lee Designs/Lucas Oil Honda's Cole Seely, who sits third in the championship standings, rode to a quiet, yet impressive fourth-place finish in Seattle. The strong result allowed the three-time podium finisher this season to stay within the title hunt, 15 points behind Tomac for first.

Red Bull KTM's Marvin Musquin put forth one of his best performances of the season in Seattle. The French rider was the fastest rider in practice and following a mid-pack start in the main event, managed to fight his way into a runner-up finish, his third of the year. He currently sits fourth in the championship, just eight points from a spot in the top three.

Star/Valli Yamaha's Ryan Sipes took advantage of the down time afforded the Western Regional Supercross Lites Class to fully heal from his early-season injuries. As a result, Sipes came back stronger, healthier and faster than ever in Seattle. He finished fifth in his six-lap heat race and then dominated the main event by getting out front immediately and leading all 15 laps to take the checkers.

"I'm happy to get the win," said Sipes. "I ended up in first coming around the second corner and I just put my head down and tried to focus on the track. I just continued to bring focus back to race the track, tried not to look back, and tried not to think about anything. I'm so happy for the Star/Valli Yamaha team. We've all been working hard and it's all been worth it. Now I just want to try and get another one at Salt Lake City this weekend."

Rockstar Energy Racing Suzuki's Jason Anderson turned in aggressive-yet-controlled laps all night in Seattle. After a fourth-place finish in his heat race, Anderson got a mid-pack start in the main event, but put his head down and picked his way through the field to eventually post a sixth-place result.

"Seattle was pretty good, though I had some trouble with my starts," said Anderson. "But, my speed was good and sixth isn't a bad way to end the night, considering how my start was. The Rockstar Energy Racing bike's working great and I've been to Salt Lake City before and I like racing there. So, hopefully I'll be able to rip some good starts and get up on the podium there."

The Seattle race was a tough one for Rockstar Energy Racing's Martin Davalos. The evening started out well, with Davalos turning in a spirited ride in his heat race and taking second. Then, in the main event, Davalos was running sixth when he stalled his bike and wound up finishing 14th.

"It was a tough night," said Davalos. "I feel like I was riding pretty smooth, but then I stalled my bike with four laps to go, sitting in an easy sixth. I gave it away. It's been a tough year, and I'm disappointed for the team because they've worked so hard on the bike and everything. But I still have two races left, so I need to keep putting my head down and do my best."

Tune into the enhanced exclusive weekly video content from Supercross LIVE! during the entire 2012 season on SupercrossOnline.com, the Official Website of Monster Energy Supercross.

Monster Energy Yamaha will welcome back two of their riders this weekend at Fermo for the Grand Prix of Italy and the third round of the FIM Motocross World Championship.

Steven Frossard has been using a bicycle only several days after an operation on his right knee to remove the anterior cruciate ligament following an incident in the qualification heat for last weekend's Grand Prix of Bulgaria. The 2011 MX1-GP runner-up is ready to attempt practice and qualification on Saturday. The Frenchman will be joined in the Rinaldi-led splinter of the Monster Energy Yamaha by Christophe Charlier. Today the former European Champion rode his factory YZ250FM for the first time since breaking his right foot earlier this month and was free of pain or any discomfort. He is now set to make his debut as a works representative and on the prototype machine.

Both Frossard and Charlier will join David Philippaerts, Shaun Simpson (MX1-GP) and replacement riders Michael Leib and Mel Pocock (MX2-GP) at Fermo to bring the Monster Energy Yamaha crew up to a full rider roster for the first time this season. Zach Osborne and Arnaud Tonus continue their respective recovery and rehabilitations.

The beautiful and emblematic track of Fermo, located at the Adriatic coast in Italy, will host the third Grand Prix of the FIM Motocross World Championship and the second round of the UEM EMX125 series. Antonio Cairoli, Jeffrey Herlings and Tim Gajser are landing in Italy determined to keep the red plate on their bikes by giving their best in the traditional hard pack motocross track of Fermo.

Good racing is assured in both MX1 and MX2 classes, as there are several contenders to fight for the overall victory this weekend. In the MX1 class, Antonio Cairoli will ride home this weekend after having missed his home GP in the previous two years, but Gautier Paulin, winner of the Bulgarian GP last weekend, obtained his maiden victory in the MX1 class last year in Fermo, so both of them are the clear favourites to be at the top.

In the MX2 class the duel will be between current leader of the series Jeffrey Herlings and Bulgarian GP winner, Tommy Searle. However, his teammate Joel Roelants also proved in Sevlievo that his riding skills on the hard pack have improved significantly.

Last weekend in Bulgaria the young motocross talents took part in the first round of the UEM EMX125, and Tim Gajser dominated both heats with authority. However, Davide Bonini rides at home this weekend and he will be extra motivated to do well in front of his crowd, and Jorge Zaragoza, who had to fight from the back of the pack last weekend in Sevlievo to finish third, might also be able to battle for the victory this weekend.

MX1
Red Bull KTM Factory Racing's Cairoli arrives in Italy as the leader of the series with nine points difference over his closest pursuer Gautier Paulin. For Cairoli it is very special coming to Fermo this weekend, not only because he will be riding home, but also because he had missed the Grand Prix of Italy the previous two years. The Italian has been working a lot on hard pack this week in order to do his best to hand his home crowd the so expected overall victory of their Italian hero.

Second in the point standings is Kawasaki Racing Team's Paulin, who is also one of the favourites to be on the top of the rostrum on Sunday. The French has admitted that he feels better than ever and a proof of that is the GP victory obtained in Sevlievo last weekend. Besides, last year Paulin won the Italian GP on the 450cc on his first attempt in the main class, so he is quite confident for the weekend.

Rockstar Energy Suzuki World's Desalle missed the podium last weekend, but he is still third in the point standings. The Belgian crashed in the second heat of the Bulgarian GP and now he has a slightly sore ankle, but it will not be an obstacle to fight among the top riders to claim the overall victory.

The fourth position of the FIM MX1 World Championship is for Red Bull KTM Factory Racing's De Dycker, who is just four points behind Desalle. De Dycker has been the big surprise of the season so far on his new KTM machine and being able to obtain very solid results in the previous GP. In fact, the Belgian impressed the entire paddock last weekend when he was battling against Cairoli and Desalle for the third position during the second heat.

Christophe Pourcel was second last weekend in Sevlievo, result which made him claim the fifth position of the point standings. Last year, the CP377 Monster Energy Kawasaki Pro Circuit rider was on the second step of the podium, so Fermo it's a track that suits the French rider and it might be the weekend where Pourcel claims his first overall victory of the season.

Strijbos is in the sixth position of the championship, followed by Boog and Simpson. Home rider Philippaerts is looking forward to this weekend, as he was touched by bad lack in Bulgaria, he crashed in the second heat and he could only finish seventh overall.

His teammate Frossard, who could not take part in the Bulgarian GP as he injured his knee during the qualifying race, will enter the Italian GP after having been operated earlier this week.

2011 MX1 Podium in Fermo
1. Gautier Paulin
2. Christophe Pourcel
3. Jonathan Barragán
2011 MX1 POLEMAN: Gautier Paulin

MX2
Red Bull KTM Factory Racing's Herlings missed the overall victory last weekend in Bulgaria, but he is landing in Italy with confidence, as he claimed the overall victory last year in Fermo. However, Herlings is aware of the fact that Searle will be very strong this weekend, as he had already proved in Sevlievo last weekend.

Team Floride Monster Energy Kawasaki Pro Circuit's Searle is second in the point standings, seven points behind Herlings, so his result in Fermo might be decisive to close up the gap with the leader. The British rider obtained the overall victory last weekend in Sevlievo, which has given him extra motivation to face the Italian round this weekend.

His teammate Roelants is just two points behind Searle and last weekend in Sevleivo obtained his first race victory of the season. The Belgian rider has improved significantly his riding skills on the hard pack and, although he does not feel like one of the favourites to fight for the Title, he might be able to be on the top step of the podium.

Other Belgian Van Horebeek is fourth in the MX2 Championship; the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing has ridden four solid motos so far and he is looking forward to racing this weekend in Fermo. Last year Van Horebeek was not able to take part in the Italian GP, as he was nursing a shoulder injury, so he will have to adapt himself quickly to the hard track of Fermo if he wants to fight for a podium finish this weekend.

The Honda Gariboldi Esta's Anstie is at the moment completing the top five in the point standings, but he can easily move up if he rides as he did last weekend in Sevlievo. Anstie is finding himself at ease with his new Honda machine and GP by GP he is improving his performance.

Lupino, who is tenth in the championship, is riding home this weekend, so he is focused in doing well in front of his home crowd. While Christophe Charlier will enter the Italian Grand Prix this weekend, after having had an injury on his foot and having missed the first two round of the series.

The presence of Valentin Teillet at the Italian GP is still doubtful due to the heavy crash he suffered last weekend in Bulgaria during the first heat of the GP.

2011 MX2 Podium in Fermo
1. Jeffrey Herlings
2. Tommy Searle
3. Max Anstie
2011 MX2 POLEMAN: Tommy Searle

Monster Energy Yamaha's Steven Frossard will travel to Fermo for the Grand Prix of Italy this weekend and attempt the third round of sixteen in the FIM Motocross World Championship in the wake of successful surgery on his right knee on Monday.

The 2011 MX1 championship runner-up required a procedure to remove a damaged anterior cruciate ligament and is now hopeful of postponing a reconstruction of the joint until the end of the season. After initial estimations that the Frenchman had affected his meniscus after catching his knee on the ground during the qualification heat for the Grand Prix of Bulgaria last Saturday, it was actually the ligament that was causing pain and a lack of movement.

With the knee now 'tidy' Frossard – who has already won the 2012 Italian Elite Championship - is aiming to get his MX1 Grand Prix campaign back on track after a strong start and a podium result several weeks ago at Valkenswaard in Holland for the series opener.

Monster Energy Yamaha MX2-GP star Christophe Charlier will ride his YZ250FM for the first time this Thursday since breaking his foot four weeks ago. Depending on the outcome of the session a judgement will be made on his participation this weekend on the Adriatic coast.

Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship returns to Salt Lake City's Rice-Eccles Stadium this Saturday night as JGRMX/Toyota/Yamaha's Davi Millsaps and Muscle Milk Honda's Justin Brayton showcase their hotly contested points in the Supercross Class.

Before 52,731 fans at Seattle's CenturyLink Field last Saturday night, L&MC Racing Honda's Andrew Short, of Smithville, Texas, reached a milestone in capturing the first Supercross Class win of his career. En route, Short, who led all 20 laps in the Main Event, held off the ultra-competitive field of Supercross Class racers, besting Monster Energy Kawasaki's Ryan Villopoto, who crashed in the race's early stages, and withdrew from the Main Event under his own will.

Once he secured the Nuclear Cowboyz® Holeshot Award, Short raced to the checkered flags.

"It doesn't feel real," exclaimed Short, who missed seven races earlier this season to injury. "My team has been through some challenges, but we stuck together. There are so many people who have helped me in 11 years of doing this. I'm getting old. I didn't believe (I could win) too much until the end and I think that's been one of my problems in the past. All I wanted to do was be out here and to win is unreal."

Behind Short, Team Honda Muscle Milk's Justin Brayton, of Murrieta, Calif., and Red Bull KTM's Ken Roczen, of Murrieta, Calif., made up the two and three spots, respectively. Out front, Short and Roczen jockeyed for positions but it was Short that showed his prowess and rode off to victory. However, the runner-up position for Roczen, an Eastern Regional Supercross Lites Class rider, was the best Supercross Class finish of his career and his first Supercross Class race of the season. Monster Energy Kawasaki's Jake Weimer, of Rupert, Idaho, rounded out the podium in third.

During the 2011 Monster Energy Supercross stop in Salt Lake City, Ryan Villopoto of Poulsbo, Wash., took home his sixth and final victory of the season. GEICO Honda's Eli Tomac left with his second Western Regional Supercross Lites Class victory of 2011.

Supercross Class Season Standings

1. Ryan Villopoto, Poulsbo, Wash., Kawasaki, 323
2. Davi Millsaps, Murrieta, Calif., Yamaha, 222
3. Justin Brayton, Murrieta, Calif., Honda, 219
4.

The citizens of Munich are battening down the hatches in preparation for an aerial assault on Saturday, when the freestyle motocross marauders will once again rule the night sky over the Bavarian capital. Europe's top FMX riders will be seeking to outdo each other with their most audacious tricks and backflip combinations as they battle for points in the NIGHT of the JUMPs world championship standings.

Reigning world champion Javier Villegas (CHL) will be joined by former FIM title holders Remi Bizouard (FRA, 2008 and 2009) and Libor Podmol (CZE, 2010) as well as last year's championship runner-up Brice Izzo (FRA). These three have been slogging it out for trophies and podiums since the start of the current NIGHT of the JUMPs season and have been thrilling the crowds with some of the most complex and challenging stunts ever devised.

Also to be reckoned with as genuine contenders are Spanish rider Maikel Melero, who has recovered from recent injury, David Rinaldo (FRA) and Hannes Ackermann: the German FMX champion has made it through to the final round in each of the last three NIGHT of the JUMPs competitions. Also in with a shout is Czech rider Martin Koren who recently made his comeback after five years, qualifying for the final in Basel, a result that suggests he is far from past it.

And with this round being held in Germany, local heroes Lukas Weis and Kai Haase (Berlin) will be pulling out all the stops to please their home fans. The starting line-up is completed by Thomas Wirnsberger from Austria.

The sideshows on the programme of events will also generate plenty of interest and entertainment. The Maxxis Race & Style Contest, in which two riders seek to outperform each other in terms of speed and execution, and the 'trains' in the Whip Contest will have the Munich fans on the edge of their seats. These two competitions will also feature the German FMX prodigy Luc Ackermann.

Furthermore, Munich is set for a premiere, as the mountain bikers from European King of Dirt demonstrate what is possible in terms of backflip combos, front flips and double backflips on unmotorised bikes.

Riders:
Remi Bizouard (FRA)
Libor Podmol (CZE)
David Rinaldo (FRA)
Maikel Melero (ESP)
Brice Izzo (FRA)
Hannes Ackermann (GER)
Martin Koren (CZE)
Thomas Wirnsberger (AUT)
Lukas Weis (GER)
Kai Haase (GER)
Javier Villegas (CHL)
+ Luc Ackermann (GER) in the Race & Style Contest and the Whip Contest
