The classic meeting in between Youthstream and the FIM Motocross and SuperMoto World Championship organizers was held on Friday 19 February, at the Riviera Marriott Hotel La Porte de Monaco, Monte Carlo. FIM/CMS President Dr. Wolfgang Srb also attended the meeting.

In a friendly and cooperative atmosphere, the 2010 Organizers’ Meeting was the occasion for Youthstream and the local Grand Prix organizers to share ideas on developing the FIM Motocross and SuperMoto World Championship series. It was also the occasion to enhance the networking in between the organizers, all set on reaching higher standards in the coming future.

All organizers also had the chance to be informed on the latest FIM Regulations changes directly by FIM/CMS President Dr. Srb.

Giuseppe Luongo, the Youthstream President, stated: “The annual organizers’ meeting went very well and the atmosphere was very positive, I was happy to see the change of generation in the organizers and that everyone understands the importance of working together to reach our common goal of bringing our sport more and more professional and bringing our sport worldwide using modern technology so that Motocross and SuperMoto are brought into all homes around the world. This meeting is very important to bring us all together and to allow for easy communication, it shows the organizers Youthstream’s policy is to open our sport, not only by having a Women’s Motocross World Championship, but also because Youthstream itself has many women in its management with responsible positions and we see that there are more and more women in the structures of organizers and promoters. There is a strong feeling from the organizers and promoters of their will to progress with the development of infrastructures and the welcome for the teams, riders and fans, and a general feeling of moving forward and improving.

“We thank Dr. Wolfgang Srb, FIM/CMS President, for attending the meeting and for explaining the recent changes to the FIM Regulations. We would also like to especially thank the SuperMoto organizers who, despite the economical crisis and the difficulties in financing SuperMoto events, continue to believe and invest in SuperMoto so that it can stay alive and try to make it grow.”

Dr. Wolfgang Srb, FIM/CMS President, added: “The communication with the organizers is very important, on Friday they got the latest news from Youthstream as well as from the FIM/CMS. It is also a perfect occasion to share experience and to talk to many colleagues. I am happy that Youthstream organizes this kind of meeting since many years and that the family gets bigger and bigger!

“It was also good to see that the organizers are all very busy in preparing their events and that they are optimistic and fully motivated. The mission of Youthstream and FIM/CMS to keep the sport affordable, in particular for young riders and families, was welcomed by all.”

Now it’s all about winter sports: long excursions and skiing, with also a little SPA time to recharge the batteries.

A very effective way to start the new season in which all Husqvarna riders have one goal only, victory, as team manager Fabrizio Azzalin explains: “Our target is to win two world titles in Enduro and one in Supermoto. We have all the necessary ingredients to reach that goal: skilled riders, performing bikes and a perfect structured team. Our group is now like a family, we have never been so in shape and compact as we are now.”

“It will be a very important season for Husqvarna brand – added Husqvarna Racing Activities Coordinator Martino Bianchi – we have presented new products and we have extremely important goals to achieve both in Enduro and in Supermotard, in which we are world champions in charge with the three world titles conquered last year. Also in the motocross category we want victory, and we’ll claim it. Here in Cogne I’ve seen in the riders’ eyes the urge to reach these results and their physical preparation is excellent. We will surely play a main role in the 2010 national and international championships.”

From 2010 Italian manufacturer GoldenTyre will become the sole tyre supplier of the FIM SuperMoto World Championship, using a One-Brand Control Tyre system since 2006.

The One-Brand Control Tyre system was introduced by series' promoter Youthstream in 2006 with the aims of reducing the tyre consumption per Grand Prix, giving an equal chance to all participants by providing them with the same material, increasing the level of competition and reducing the costs.

The partnership with GoldenTyre will follow these general principles and will be a further opportunity for the FIM SuperMoto World Championship collective.

The Italian tyres dedicated to SuperMoto will be made of a harder compound to provoke a longer life and more sliding, resulting in an improved show. Furthermore the price of the tyres will be reduced in favour of the team's budgets.

Youthstream looks forward to the new partnership with GoldenTyre starting at the first of seven Grand Prix's of the 2010 FIM SuperMoto World Championship - Italy on May 2. The FIM SuperMoto of Nations instead is due to take place in France on October 10.

GoldenTyre opened 25 years ago in Bientina (by Pisa, Italy) as a manufacturer of cycling tyres, establishing a solid business which has expanded to Motocross and Enduro since 2001. The brand was bought by Buymec, a branch of the Cavallini-Donati group, in 2004. The company is now a solid firm in the off road market, becoming well known first for their coloured models then for the tubeless Motocross tyres - now produced with Kevlar inserts. The current range of products covers also SuperMoto, Minicross, Enduro, Pit Bikes and Speedway.

Marco Cavallini, the GoldenTyre President, stated: "We are extremely happy to extend our partnership with Youthstream, which started in the Motocross business, to SuperMoto. We are thankful for this opportunity we are given and we will do our best to fulfil our position of unique tyre supplier of the FIM SuperMoto World Championship. The tyre compound we have chosen is meant to increase the sliding, together with the show of the races, and reduce the costs because the tyres will cost less and last longer."

(in the photo from left to right: Youthstream's Vice President Luigi Zompetti and GoldenTyre's President Marco Cavallini shake hands)

Representing the new generation of Superiders, French Adrien Chareyre has collected his third World ..

Representing the new generation of Superiders, French Adrien Chareyre has collected his third World Championship Title at the young age of 23.

The third World Title of Adrien Chareyre came after his maiden Title win in 2007 (S1, 450cc) and the other Title win in 2008 (S2, Open), making the last three years the most successful period of the Frenchman's career. This period also saw Chareyre clinch most of his GP wins including the historic one-one at Andorra in 2007 when Adrien won the S2 and his brother Tomas the S1.

Currently Chareyre is now second in the all time classification of GP winners, behind 2009 S1 World Champion Van Den Bosch.

ADRIEN CHAREYRE'S CAREER IN THE FIM SUPERMOTO WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

After approaching Motocross -Adrien Chareyre even raced the FIM Junior World Championship in 1999 against the likes of Strijbos, Rattray and Stewart- a young Chareyre debuted in the FIM SuperMoto World Championship in 2003, one year after the FIM series was established.

Due to an injury, that year Chareyre entered only his home GP in Marseille, taking seventh in heat one, fourth in heat two and again fourth in the Superfinal. SuperMoto bastion Marcel Seurat had discovered another talent.

His first full season in the FIM SuperMoto World Championship was hit by the pass away of Mr. Seurat in mid April 2004. Chareyre kept going to make full display of what he had been taught and sealed a fifth place in the S2 Championship with his maiden podium in Spain.

In the meantime the SIMA Team's guidance passed in the hands of Ms. Jeannine Seurat, who was hosting both Adrien and Thomas Chareyre in her house at that time.

2005 was an even better year for Adrien Chareyre, coming close to the S2 World Title which he lost to Chambon by just three points. Chareyre's maiden GP win in the final round at Latina proved how much the youngster tried to clinch the Title during that hard fought season of SuperMoto racing.

In 2006 Adrien Chareyre had to face on of his biggest career challenges, in the likes of the battle with SuperMoto idol Thierry Van Den Bosch. With both being from France, the season was a dogfight which included also other Frenchman and former World Champion Giraudo. Chareyre pulled off a home win at Villars but ended third in the Championship behind VDB and Giraudo, both on Aprilia.

Three full seasons of top level racing had made Chareyre an even stronger rider, now combining talent and experience. In 2007 Adrien was as consistent as ever, always making it into the top five and scoring points at every round of the series now being inside the works Husqvarna team. Two GP wins and four podium finishes highlighted Chareyre's run for the maiden World Title which ended at the last GP of the season in Greece. Being 21 at that time, Adrien Chareyre set the record of youngest SuperMoto World Champion. That season's form was displayed also at the FIM SuperMoto of Nations win alongside France team mates Van Den Bosch and Thomas Chareyre.

After Chareyre completed the mission of winning a Title in the 450cc class for Husqvarna, the manufacturer Chareyre has been riding with since his GP debut, he was given the task to win also in the Open class alongside other works rider and two time World Champion Delepine.

As the Belgian struggled throughout 2008, Chareyre was his consistent self and managed to snatch the red plate from early leader Gozzini at the third GP of the season, by claiming his first overall win. The two started a dogfight for the World Crown and dominated the whole season, pulling away from the rest of the field. The Greek showdown, which Chareyre entered with an 11 point advantage, was as hard fought as the rest of the season. Taking the overall at Thessaloniki, Chareyre impressed again and took his maiden S2 World Title.

That Title had a special value for Chareyre. After dedicating the 2007 crown to his mentor Mr. Seurat, the 2008 Title was dedicated to Ms. Seurat, who had passed away that year.

2009 started again with the dogfight Chareyre vs Gozzini but this time out the Frenchman pulled off a stunning season. Adrien dominated the first two GP's and continued winning until Andorra as he dropped down to third in Greece. Ottobiano marked Chareyre's victorious comeback but the Title was not secured by just four points. Despite stalling the bike in heat one of the final GP in Salou, Chareyre sealed his third World Title at the end of the first heat already.

Having reached Van Den Bosch's previous tally of three World Titles, Adrien Chareyre now aims at equaling and eventually beating his French countryman.

Having always been the man of the records in SuperMoto since his win of the first ever SuperMoto GP ..

Having always been the man of the records in SuperMoto since his win of the first ever SuperMoto GP in 2002, 35 year old Frenchman Thierry Van Den Bosch finally wrapped up his fourth World Title.

After a great start to his SuperMoto career in the UEM series, under the expert guidance of Mr. Seurat following a short period as privateer, VDB was contracted by the works KTM Red Bull Team to complete the 2001 European series and then debut in the FIM series in 2002, the first edition of the World Championship. Van Den Bosch won first time out, wrapping up the World Title at the end of the season. From then on the Frenchman has well established his name in the discipline, winning in each class and with each of the four manufacturers he has ridden for, with the list now including TM as well.

THIERRY VAN DEN BOSCH'S CAREER IN THE FIM SUPERMOTO WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

As most of the riders from his generation, Van Den Bosch started off his rider's career with Motocross taking part in several National series in France. Though he never made it to any International series due to several injuries to his knees. Moving on to go-kart racing for a short while, in the nineties VDB moved his first steps in SuperMoto and the association with countryman Marcel Seurat was the key to start VDB's bursting career.

Onboard the SIMA Team's Husqvarna, Van Den Bosch took a runner up finish in the UEM series in 1999 and went on to take the Title in 2000. Thierry had just left his mark on the start to the new millennium, a mark which will last a lot longer starting from 2001.

In that year the French was contracted by the factory Red Bull KTM Team, becoming a full factory rider for one of the most committed manufacturers in the sport. Taking third in the UEM series VDB and KTM prepared their assault to the first ever World Championship season in 2002.

The first ever season of the FIM SuperMoto World Championship begun in Namur. Van Den Bosch made history by winning the first ever round of that Championship and went on to win the following five. The series ended in Australia, where VDB dominated until a mechanical failure denied the Frenchman of a perfect season. Eventually Van Den Bosch was crowned the first ever FIM SuperMoto World Champion. The base of the myth had just been laid.

His flamboyant and sharp character of those years made the newly crowned Champion quit SuperMoto for a season in World Super Sport, which eventually unveiled to be a disappointment for VDB, struggling with his bike and team. A best result of fourth overall at Silverstone was not enough to make the Champion remain in the discipline.

In 2004 VDB was back into the FIM SuperMoto series, which had expanded to two classes in the meantime. Again in the Red Bull KTM Team Van Den Bosch entered the S1 class, including open bikes, and went on to win his second World Title. Thierry took seven wins out of nine rounds, finishing the other two GP's outside the podium which confirmed his "all or nothing" attitude. Van Den Bosch was there to win only and he would win more.

In 2005 Delepine would start off the season by winning the first two rounds and retaining the red plate until VDB snatched it courtesy of victory at round three. Unfortunately an accident involving the duo left VDB with a broken lower leg at Melk. The French missed the points in the second heat, when Delepine hit him at the outside of the off road part, and it took him time before being back to full shape. Once he was, he rounded off the season winning the final two GP's, though he lost the Title to Delepine and took third behind Hiemer.

A new challenge made VDB even more motivated and seeking for success in 2006, when he switched from works KTM to works Aprilia, this time in the S2 class though (450cc at that time). Thierry adapted extremely well to the new bike and class over the winter and won already at the third GP of the season to clinch the red plate. After taking his only podium of 2006 in Germany, VDB stormed to three consecutive wins to round off the season and secure the third World Crown.

2007 kept up VDB's winning streak with the overall win at the FIM SuperMoto of Nations, which is currently the first and only success for Team France (completed by Adrien and Thomas Chareyre at that time), four GP wins and 10 heat wins but the missed out on the Title due to several mechanical failures. Other Frenchman Adrien Chareyre was crowned World Champion, establishing the value of the new generation of Superiders as VDB took second.

In 2008 VDB was still in the Aprilia squad and held the red plate until round three where he had a massive crash. In Valladolid the Frenchman stopped his winning streak and saw the leader's board go on to Hiemer's bike, who will become the 2008 World Champion. Nevertheless Van Den Bosch fought tooth and nail but ended a bitter second in the Championship.

Switching to TM in 2009 after signing a last minute deal with the Italian manufacturer's works squad 747 Motorsport TM Factory Racing, Van Den Bosch won first time out at Viterbo to continue the season on the podium until the Andorran Grand Prix. An unfortunate fall during a training session caused the Frenchman a broken right collarbone, something which he unveiled only at the end of the season. Nevertheless VDB battled tooth and nail to keep the red plate on his machine and seal his fourth World Title, eventually surviving the pressure from Thomas Chareyre and Lazzarini. Van Den Bosch took the Title with a short advantage of three points over Thomas Chareyre and handed TM their first riders' Title.

This fourth World Title increases the popularity of Van Den Bosch, remaining the man of the records in the FIM SuperMoto World Championship.

In the Open class it was Porfiri who took the Title with gallantry as he won this Catalan round.

S1-S2 RACE 1
Starting off from first on the grid after his Superpole win, Husqvarna CH Racing's Thomas Chareyre led the pack into the first corner followed by Gozzini and Lazzarini. The smart Frenchman pulled away at the beginning of the race while the two Italians battled for second and took a well deserved win.

Lazzarini of HM Honda Racing was an eventual second but could not manage to close the gap from Chareyre despite his efforts.

747 Motorsport TM Factory Racing's Gozzini instead settled for third after losing the runner up spot from Lazzarini. On the other hand his team mate Van Den Bosch, leading the S1 Championship, made up for a warm up lap crash at the sky section with ninth in the combined standings. VDB had started from 16th on the grid after a disastrous qualifying and found himself with a shorter advantage over Chareyre and Lazzarini.

Delepine brought the bike home in fourth ahead of Hermunen, Seel and a strong Bartolini.

The end of the opening heat saw Husqvarna CH Racing's Adrien Chareyre wrap up his third World Title by taking an eventual seventh in the S2 dedicated standings. The Frenchman was in trouble when he stalled the bike at the sky section but sealed the Title anyhow as he entered the race with a 46 point advantage.

Thomas Chareyre stood on top of the S1 standings followed by Lazzarini and Hermunen. Gozzini won the S2 heat from Delepine and Bartolini.

S1-S2 RACE 2
Again Thomas Chareyre of Husqvarna CH Racing took the holeshot and pulled away with the lead, followed by the sole Lazzarini. The HM Honda Racing man tried to find a way past the French but could not make it and settled for second.

Cross 2R's Delepine took a good start and remained behind the leading duo. Delepine managed to stop the attack of Gozzini, who broke two rims when Delepine closed him and ended with a flat tyre.

Adrien Chareyre, who had already sealed the Title, took fourth ahead of Burkhart, putting in another strong moto after his Grand Prix debut in Ottobiano.

Seel ended right after, moving past Verderosa and eventually Bartolini, overtaking the latter at the last lap along the start straight.

Courtesy of ninth, Van Den Bosch secured his fourth World Title. The Frenchman then unveiled he had a broken collarbone since the week preceding the Greek Grand Prix and has been riding in pain since then.

As Thomas Chareyre won the S1 Grand Prix ahead of Lazzarini and Seel -the latter on his first season's podium- Van Den Bosch clinched the Title by just three points.

Delepine won his second Grand Prix of the season ahead of Burkhart and Bartolini, with the Italian taking his first ever podium. Despite missing the top three, Adrien Chareyre came out of the Catalan GP with the S2 World Title - the third of his career.

The 2009 FIM SuperMoto World Championship will come to an end this weekend at Salou, a new venue to the World series being located inside the area of Port Aventura, the biggest amusement park in Spain.

Van Den Bosch leads the S1 series ahead of Lazzarini, with the duo being spread in just 19 points. Thomas Chareyre is in third, just two points behind Lazzarini.

In the S2 series instead reigning Champion Adrien Chareyre leads with a bigger advantage over runner up Delepine, being 46 points adrift. Gozzini completes the top three.

In the UEM series Karanyotov is about to wrap up the S3 Title while a packed Open series is currently led by Monticelli.

At the end of this last Grand Prix the FIM Off Road Awards dedicated to SuperMoto will get underway on the Sunday evening at Port Aventura.

S1
Winning his second Grand Prix of the season at Ottobiano, HM Honda Racing's Lazzarini took a giant leap in the points standings, storming from fourth to second. The Italian is now behind Championship leader Van Den Bosch, creating a similar situation to what happened already in 2008 when the two fought tooth and nail for the runner up spot in the S1 Championship - VDB eventually finished ahead of Lazzarini.

Lazzarini suffers a gap of 19 points but the last two heats of the season in Salou can pay up to 50 points, leaving the Title chase wide open.

Thomas Chareyre of Husqvarna CH Racing is third in the Championship, just two points behind Lazzarini. Lazzarini's home win interrupted the Frenchman's winning streak of three GP's but Chareyre salvaged the weekend in Italy by taking a runner up finish overall.

Other Husqvarna CH Racing representative Hermunen has dropped down to fourth in the Championship but with a gap of 31 points from VDB he completes the list of potential Title candidates.

The pressure is now on all Thierry Van Den Bosch with the 747 Motorsport - TM Racing Factory man going for his fourth World Title. The goal is an absolute record in the history of SuperMoto as current S2 series leader Adrien Chareyre may equal the actual tally of three World Titles should he become Champion at Salou.

Rigo Racing Suzuki's Seel rounds off the top five in the Championship after collecting his best season's result in Ottobiano with fourth overall.

S2
Coming back to victory in Ottobiano Adrien Chareyre of Husqvarna CH Racing came dramatically close to winning the World Title. The reigning S2 World Champion came out of the Italian weekend with 46 points more than new runner up Gerald Delepine, which meant he lost the Title by just four points.

With 50 points still up for grabs in Catalunya this weekend it will be a tough job for Delepine and Gozzini to overtake Chareyre in the standings.

Husqvarna Cross 2R's Delepine has moved up to second in the Championship snatching the runner up spot from Gozzini.

The latter was disqualified in Ottobiano's first heat and missed the points for the first time this season. Now the 747 Motorsport - TM Racing Factory representative will have to give his very best to move back to second in the points standings.

Youngster Gaspardone is fourth in the Championship but he has been out of the battle for the 2009 Title. The Italian still aims at collecting his maiden podium after a close fourth overall in Greece.

Borella completes the top five while KTM fellow rider Burkhart will be chasing his second consecutive podium after his maiden appearance in the series ended with third overall.

Ivan Lazzarini pulled off a stunning win at his home round in Ottobiano, storming to second in the Championship behind leader Van Den Bosch. The latter was third on Ottobiano's podium behind Thomas Chareyre.

Adrien Chareyre was back to victory but did not manage to secure his third World Title by just four points. Delepine was second on the podium and moved up to second in the Championship as well while Burkhart completed the podium at his maiden GP appearance. Gozzini instead was disqualified in heat one after a crash and slipped to third in the Championship.

Karanyotov moved one step closer to his maiden S3 Title after winning this penultimate round. Monticelli got back the red plate in the Open class as Animento won the overall.

S1-S2 RACE 1

After taking his first Superpole of the season, HM Honda Racing's Ivan Lazzarini dominated the first moto from the start to the finish flag. The Italian, who dedicated his second heat win of the season to his grandmother (who recently passed away), holeshotted the first corner and kept the Chareyre duo behind for the whole race.

Thomas Chareyre, exploiting a mistake of VDB at the sky section to take third, was an eventual second after his brother Adrien let him by. The team play in between the Husqvarna CH Racing representatives was possible as Adrien was enjoying a safe advantage over second placed S2 rider Delepine, who crossed the finish line in eighth.

Adrien Chareyre settled for third ahead of S1 series leader Van Den Bosch, starting from second on the grid but struggling to keep the pace of the leading trio. In the other hand the French could keep a strong Seel behind in fifth, pulling away from the hard charging Belgian in the second half of the heat.

Verderosa was sixth ahead of Beltrami and Delepine, being the second best S2 Superider ahead of Gaspardone.

It was a tough opening moto for Gozzini, being disqualified for receiving outside assistance after a crash. The Italian was holding third behind Adrien Chareyre when he fell and after restarting the bike he finished outside the top ten.

Lazzarini topped the S1 standings ahead of Thomas Chareyre and VDB, while Adrien Chareyre topped the S2 standings from Delepine and Gaspardone.

S1-S2 RACE 2

Lazzarini of HM Honda Racing took another great start to lead the pack into the first corner, followed by Thomas Chareyre. Delepine got a good start while VDB was forced to recover from the back of the group.

Later on Lazzarini pulled away from the rest of the field while Husqvarna CH Racing's Thomas Chareyre settled for second.

This time out 747 Motorsport TM Factory Racing's Gozzini made up for the first heat with a third place finish-first in the S2- defending his spot from Delepine and Adrien Chareyre. Delepine actually went down at the sky section while trying an attack on the Italian. That handed Chareyre the fourth place ahead of Van Den Bosch, Seel and Delepine.

Gaspardone was on route to his maiden podium but a mechanical failure caused the Italian a disappointing dnf.

Taking another fifth place in the S2 class Burkhart brought his Motoracing KTM on the overall podium at their maiden appearance in the GP scene.

Lazzarini climbed on top of the S1 podium for the second time this year ahead of Thomas Chareyre, ending a winning streak of three GP's, and Van Den Bosch retaining the red plate.

Adrien Chareyre was back to victory and increased his advantage in the S2 series to 46 points. Delepine was second, with the podium result bringing also the second place in the Championship, while Burkhart completed the top three overall. Gozzini instead missed the podium for the first time this year and dropped to third in the Championship.
